It was a great session on Sunday and good fun was had by all. The lads concentrated on passing tackling and scoring and did this very well. By the time for the game at the end almost everyone was tired but they all showed great heart to keep going. Coach’s will be on site from 10.15am. All players must have GUM SHIELDS & be REGISTERED to be allowed to take part in any training session or games. So, don’t forget folks next Sunday from 10.30am to 12.00pm Hope to see you all there, Thanks.

UNDER 8 AND 10 GIRLS

The beautiful weather saw the John Mitchel’s u-8 and u-10 girls head into the sunshine for their first outdoor training session of the year. With plenty of space in the AstroTurf pitch there was plenty of running and ball-skill sessions to keep the girls active.

Despite the weather and the Kerry game in Dublin, there was again a good turnout for training, and once more all of the girls showed that they had been practicing their skills at home during the week.

This week the emphasis was on improving hand-passing skills in competitive drills and game situations. With Go-Games matches taking place in April, it is critical that this fundamental skill is perfected. Millie and Sophie showed off their hand-passing prowess, while Gia and Ava were to the fore in all of the drills.

The group did plenty of running as well during the session, with Sophia, Jenny and Maddison working hard, while during the drills competition, Hannah, Karen, Courtney, Leila and Sophia showed their speed.

The final game saw all of the girls demonstrate their hand-passing in tight situations, with Jessica and Aebhín excelling.

Training will continue next Sunday at the John Mitchel’s complex in Ballyseedy at 10am. It is important that ahead of the Go-Games in April that all girls are registered as club members in order to be able to play.

CLOTHES COLLECTION:

We have joined up with St Vincent De Paul to rise much needed funds for both John Mitchel’s and SVP. Vincent’s charity shops are a very important aspect of the service SVP provides. Not only do they provide people with new and lightly worn items at affordable prices, they also provide an income source for the Society, which is recycled directly back into the community.

By donating your second-hand clothes and unwanted items, not only will you be freeing up space in your home, you will also be making a difference to people in need, in your community.

We now have an SVP clothes bank in our car park at our state-of-the-art sports facility in Ballyseedy.
