A quick reminder that there will no training for U6 U8 & U10 Boy’s & Girl’s this August Bank Holiday, training will resume the following week as normal.

UNDER 6 BOYS AND GIRLS

Our U6s train every Sunday at 11.00am. Last Sunday they had a great session and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We concentrated on basic ball handling skills which proved to be a great success with everyone improving by the minute. Things were so good that the parents couldn’t resist joining in and our session ended on a high. A well-deserved break now for all our boys and girls for the month of August. See you all in September and keep practising your skills

UNDER 10 BOYS

The John Mitchels Boys U10 team that won the A final of the Miltown / Castlemaine u10 blitz held on Sunday July 28th.

On Sunday we took part in the Milltown Blitz and were in a group of 4. Our first game was against Keel and with Jack, Darragh and Luke putting in a huge effort we won well on a score of 2-4 to 0-1.

Our second game was against Listry and this proved to be the closest game with Sean, Cody and Adrian getting on a lot of ball and making great use of it. With a couple of minutes to go we were down 3 points to 5. Under massive pressure Calvin got on the ball and sent a rasper of a shot goal ward on in it went.

We held on for a great victory 1-3 to 0-5. Our final game in the group was against Glenflesk 2, David, Donncha, Tomas and Ethan played an important part in our win and we progressed to the A semi-final on the score of 4-3 to 0-2.

The semi Final saw us up against a fancied Firies team, Adam, Adrian, Dylan and Jack played their hearts out and by the final whistle we were deserving winners. Now the final against Kilcummin, the first half was tight as we played against the wind but still managed to be in front by 1-3 to 0-3 with all the Jacks giving us a huge game.

The second half gave us a chance to show some spectacular football with Luke, Rory, both Seans, Cody and Calvin impressive.

We ran out deserved winners at 4-3 to 0-4. Well done to all the players it was really a team performance, ye should all be proud of your play and how ye conducted yourselves.

Thanks to all the parents who were there, it was hard to tell who was more nervous child or parent but it was great to have ye there with your constant support throughout the year.

Well done and congratulations to the mentors it has been a long wait but I’m sure they enjoyed it as well.

No training next Sunday as it is the bank holiday but we will be back at it again the Sunday after that. The U9s have games in Currans at 6.30

UNDER 8 & U/10 GIRLS

Once again there was an impressive turnout for training in Ballyseedy on Sunday morning. Coaches Padraig and Sean brought out the tackle bags and there was great excitement as the girls got to grips with tackling. Other drills involved hand passing and kick passing with Ciara, Courtney, Jenny, Sophie and new team member Emily showing their talent.

This was followed by a game where Grace, Leila, Ella, Gia and Millie were tenacious in defence. While Aeibhin, Hannah, Ella, Nicole and Madison worked hard in attack.

Due to the Bank Holiday there will be no training next weekend.
