Academy Returns!!

It was like we were never away for our U8 & U10 Boy’s & Girl’s as our academy returned to action last week. It was great to see everyone back & raring to go. Huge thanks to kids and parents and of course the organisers and COVID officers there this morning who ensured the health and well being of our players and members were very well looked after! As our coaches always say after every session kids you gotta keep on practicing every day to improve all your skills & we hope to see you all again next Sunday morning 10.30am to 11.30am. All players must have their own water & all parents/Guardians must complete the COVID-19 Health Questionnaire before every session. Thanks again. Up the Mitchels!!!!

UNDER 8 & 10s GIRLS

Despite the poor weather conditions on Sunday morning, there was a great turn-out of our U-8 and u-10 girls at John Mitchels Complex in Ballyseedy. We were delighted to see more and more of the girls return after the break, and over the next few weeks we will be looking forward to having everyone back and welcoming a few more new additions to our team.

Following arrival and hand sanitisation, Sadhbh took the girls for a quick warm-up following which we launched into our drills and skills portion of training, with hand-passing, kick-passing and tackling. Jennifer, Aeibhin, Leila, and Grace stood out here, and it was clear that Ava, Roisin, Maddison and Kate had been practising their skills at home, such was the improvement from the start of the year.

The second half of the training session saw the players take each other on in a game, and the midfield of Millie, Ciara, Alannah and Aisling were up for a challenge, with some excellent passing, and tackling during the game.

Hannah’s scoring touch was evident, while Emily, Sophie, Clodagh and Aideen all worked hard to create scoring chances and to make life hard for the opposition forwards as well. Due to the Bank Holiday, there will be no training next Sunday morning, with the squad due to resume training the following week, Sunday 9th August.

U16’s

U16 Boys Report – Our U16 Boys got their season underway recently with a convincing 4-8 to 2-3 win over Castleisland Desmonds at home in Ballyseedy. Our lads buckled down and fought hard to come out on top in a very tough physical encounter. A brillant first half performance from all players was key to the success with some great moments of play from all. The best of all was the smiles on the boys faces coming on and off the field knowing they were back wearing the club jersey and playing the sport they love. Mitchels Abu.
