UNDER 6 BOYS & GIRLS

Our u6 boys and girls were back last Sunday for the first time since last March. There was a great turnout with some new faces. They went about their training session with huge enthusiasm and did really well. Looking forward to seeing them all next Sunday

UNDER 8 BOYS

U8 boys.

This saw John Mitchel’s U8 Boy’s take on Kerins o Rahilly’s in some very competitive challenge games. All teams started very competitively with some great skills on display from both sides.

Our thanks to Kerins o Rahilly’s & we look forward to a return trip in the near future. John Mitchel’s U8 Boy’s training continues this Thursday evening 5.30pm to 6.30pm in our astro pitch hope to see all then thanks.

UNDER 10 BOYS

Our u10 boys had a very enjoyable Sunday morning playing challenge games in Ballyricard against our near neighbours Kerins O Rahilly’s. There was some great skill & scoring shown by both sides & the main thing is that it was great to get back to playing football games again. Many thanks to Kerins O Rahilly’s for the games & we’re returning the fixture next Sunday morning in Ballyseedy so we hope to see you all again for more football.

UNDER 8 & 10 GIRLS

Despite the threatening weather, the rain held off in Ballyseedy on Sunday morning and the John Mitchel’s u-8/10 girls took to the AstroTurf ready for training.

After Sadhbh led the girls through a thorough warm-up, the girls continued with their drills, working on the fundamentals with additional routines built in. This included running off the pass to kick scores and working on their ball control.

It showed that the girls had been working on their skills during the week and this was heartening for the coaches to see.

The majority of the training session was taken up by a long game, with the girls having to work hard over the big pitch, tackling, running and passing, with some lovely scores thrown in.

Aisling was full of running in midfield, with Millie and Hannah showing off a good partnership around the centre. Scoring star was Layla, who kicked some fantastic scores, but Aeibhin made life difficult for her with every kick. Kate and Aideen had a fantastic tussle, while at the other end, Roisin and Ava, were tough markers on Maddison and Jenny, who nevertheless got in for some excellent scores.

Training continues next Sunday in Ballyseedy from 10.30am and the girls are asked to continue working on their skills at home.

UNDER 12 BOYS

Another big night for our u12s this evening as we were on the road again this time to Killarney and Dr Crokes in Division one of the County League.

The Green team had a poor start with Crokes racing into an early 4-point lead. We started to find our rhythm and a great goal settled us. Three points up at the water break, the lads kicked on from there to run in some fine scores. Crokes responded in the second half but we had enough in hand to fend them off by a final score of 5-20 2-14. At time of writing, dependent on other results next week’s game against Churchill at home could decide Division 1A. Well done to all the Greens on another fine display.

The Golds were putting their unbeaten record again on the line and settled into the game well, leading by 5 at the water break. We maintained this to half time but Crokes were still in the game. We conceded a few goals in the second half which kept the game in the melting pot into the last quarter but we saw the game out well to win by 5-18 5-6. All to play for next week when we face Churchill to decide Division 1B. Another fantastic display and great to see members of the u10 team also getting some experience.

Training continues Tuesday at 5.30 and Thursday at 5.45. Big week ahead so maximum attendance required.

UNDER 14 BOYS

On Wednesday evening we played Kerins Rahilly’s in Strand Rd in what was to be a very exciting game we led at half time by 4 pts aided by q strong breeze with some great play and scores from our boys the second didn’t start too good with the narries getting an early goal and a couple of points the breeze got a lot stronger in the second half in which we struggled to gain momentum and didn’t get going till the final few minutes when we pegged back a goal and a few points which wasn’t enough in the finish training continues Monday evening at 6-15pm to 8 with our last game in the group away in Mountcoal Wednesday evening v St Senans meet in Mountcoal @6pm full attendance required bring gum shields
