UNDER 6 BOYS & GIRLS

Our under 6 boys and girls had a record turnout last Sunday. Luckily there were plenty of coaches on hand to ensure that training went smoothly. We practised all the basic skills, finishing a great training session with a fun game of catch the coaches! See everyone again this Sunday

UNDER 8 BOYS

John Mitchels U8 Boy’s entertained Austin Stacks this Sunday last for some challenge games in what was a beautiful day.

Both sides had 3 teams each & played some very entertaining & competitive football. It’s fantastic to see players improving every week with their skills.

Our sincere thanks to Austin Stacks for providing some fantastic opposition & we look forward to a return game soon.

As usual folks training continues this Thursday 5.30pm to 6.30pm until then keep on practicing!!

UNDER 10 BOYS

Our u10 Boys made the short trip across town to play Austin Stacks last Sunday morning. Both games were highly competitive & there was great scoring, skill & commitment on both sides. This age group is all about learning the skills as well as the basic rules of the game & the little bit of cuteness that will hold them in good stead as the go up through the age groups. All of the above was on show in abundance last Sunday & there’s no doubt that both of these groups of players will cross paths a lot more in the future. Well done to both teams & many thanks to Austin Stacks for a great morning of football. Training next Thursday evening from 5.30pm to 7pm & at time of print we’re due to play Miltown/ Castlemaine next Sunday, details to follow.

UNDER 8 & 10 GIRLS

In glorious sunshine in Ballyseedy on Sunday morning, we were delighted to welcome the Ballymacelligott u10 girls to play a challenge match.

For our girls, it was the first game of the season, and it was a chance to show off the skills they had learned in training. With our u-8s playing with us as well, we had a size disadvantage in some areas of the field, but it didn’t matter much as the determination and grit of the team levelled matters up and it turned out to be a very evenly matched game.

Karolina in goals made some terrific saves and her kick outs consistently found Mitchels players, while in defence, Ava was outstanding, assisted by Millie, Roisin, Layla and Noelle played some tight defence, with excellent block downs and swarming defence.

At midfield, Hannah and Ciara were in great form and saw a lot of the ball, working hard and moving the ball into attack, where Aisling, Alannah, Clodagh, Emma and Saoirse kept showing for the ball and tried hard to create scoring chances. A terrific goal by Hannah was one of the highlights of the day.

We had a number of new players who turned up and were thrown in at the deep end, but it was no bother to Saoirse, Emma and Noelle, who got stuck in and never let the occasion get to them. Indeed, Saoirse got the last score of the game, a long-range free kick that flew like an arrow over the crossbar.

The team will take a lot out of the game, as it was a learning experience about how games are played and how different they are to the training sessions. They will definitely benefit from it and the coaches were delighted with how positively they approached the game, and how they kept working hard right until the very end.

Training continues next Sunday at 10.30am at Ballyseedy and all are welcome.
