UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

We welcomed back our U7 boys and girls on Sunday 2nd MAY at 11am. The weather was amazing and everyone enjoyed the first outing, coaches and parents included. We had an amazing 67 boys and girls who were placed into pods of 15 and were rearing to go. Great fun was had for the hour and the boys and girls were brilliant.

Training continues every Sunday from 11-12. We look forward to welcoming new members to our family of young footballers. The onus is on ensuring all our young players have fun and leave training with a smile on their faces. Looking forward to seeing old and new faces in the coming Sundays.

Don’t forget to fill out the return to play form before each session.

U8/U10 GIRLS

The John Mitchel’s u-8 & u-10 girls returned to training on Sunday 2nd May and delighted to be back in action. With everyone keen to get going coaches Rory, Tanya and Ruth had their hands full trying to work off some excess energy.

Following a gentle warm up the 3 coaches got stuck in and soon everyone was busy working with a ball doing skills and drills, as the coaches re-introduced them back to ball work. It wasn’t long before the girls were back in the swing of things and the coaches were very impressed at the work that the girls had been doing themselves at home during the lockdown.

UNDER 12 GIRLS

Under 12 girls training resumed this week. As always, the girls turned up with a brilliant attitude and appetite for the game. From the level of skills that the girls showed on their return it was obvious the had been practicing during their time off and had taken part in zoom fitness programme laid out by our coaches. Despite the poor weather on the night the girl’s spirits were high and everyone just seemed happy to be back. It was fantastic to see.

Training continues every Wednesday at 6.00-7.00. new players always welcome.

Under 14/16 girls

Monday night also saw the return of the u14/16 girls. There was a great turnout on the night and an audible buzz of excitement from the girls as they arrived onto the training grounds. We went through some basic ‘back to fitness’ exercises to start off with. All girls showed great attitude to training and had plenty of laughs. Looking forward to when games can go ahead. Fitness is the aim of the game at the moment.

UNDER 13 BOYS

Tuesday 27th saw the John Mitchel’s u 13 boys become the first team from the club to return to the playing field with light hearted skill and mobility session to dust off the cobwebs of lockdown. The delight in all their faces and voices was evident throughout the session despite the 20 mins of hailstones which they encountered. The turnout of 25 boys returning was a delight to see and a testament to the club and coaches who give these boys a love for the game.
