UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

61 boys and girls trained in glorious sunshine Sunday morning.  Water and sun screen were the order of the day. The boys and girls were an absolute joy to train and went at their skills were great enthusiasm.  Most enjoyable session appeared to have been dodgeball with the coaches the targets!

Training continues on Sunday mornings at 11 am in our Ballyseedy complex.  New members always welcome

U8/U10 GIRLS

Sunday morning saw another great turnout at the John Mitchel’s complex in Ballyseedy, for the girls u-8/u10 training.

The coaches continued to work with the girls on their drills and skills, introducing more game-related drills to bring the players up to speed when they take part in games. The improvement in skills is exciting with the players showing excellent commitment and drive.

With some competitive shooting drills, and possession based challenges, Michaela, Charlie, Clodagh, Ava, Roisin, Aine and Caoimhe.

The training session finished with a very competitive game marked by some good off-the-ball movement and scoring, with two goals from Natalia, and clever play by Millie, Lucy, Amelia, Natalia, Ally, Karolina, Siun, Tegan and Amelia.

Training continues next Sunday at 10.30am in the Mitchel’s complex in Ballyseedy and as ever, we are delighted to welcome new faces.

UNDER 12 GIRLS

Under12 girls played a very competitive first round of their north Kerry league campaign on the bank holiday Monday. Losing out to Emmett’s by a small margin on the day hasn’t discouraged the girls and they are really excited about their upcoming game against Abbeydorney.
Training continues Wednesdays at 6.30pm
Newcomers always welcome.

Under 14/16 girls

U14 girls got their county league campaign under way on Sunday with a division 2 clash away to Castleisland Desmonds. A really tough contest for the travelling team who can only gain experience going forward. Home to Churchill next and looking to bounce back.
Training continues 6.30pm Wednesday

All new players welcome.

UNDER 9 BOYS

John Mitchel’s U9 Boys are improving every week thanks to their commitment & willingness to practice for 10 to 15mins a day as well as training. We have also introduced a second training session on Wednesday evening from 5.30 to 6.30pm & once again anyone wanting to come up & have a look on a Sunday or a Wednesday by all means do. All Newcomers Welcome!!

Don’t forget to fill out the return to play form before each session.

UNDER 11 BOYS

Our u11 boys played their first round of go games & acquitted themselves well in blustery conditions against Churchill last Thursday evening. The lads hadn’t played a game in a while so every game is a learning curve & they will gain valuable experience with every game they play. The next game is at home on Thursday June 17th against Na Gaeil at 6.30pm sharp. Many thanks to Kerry County Board GDA Tom Joy who did the session with the lads on Sunday morning. It’s fair to say that both the coaches & players picked up some new ideas from his visit. We have training every Sunday morning from 10.15 to 11.30. The coaches are on site from 10.00 so there’s no problem if parents want to drop off early, new players are always welcome. Please bring your gum shield & water.

Don’t forget to fill out the return to play for before each session.

UNDER 13 BOYS

It seemed like an eternity since we last got to see our u13s (last years 12s) in action but the big night finally came and no better opposition than our great neighbours and rivals Austin Stacks.

On a glorious summer evening, the first of our teams in action was our Gold team. We were down a few lads tonight due to a combination of injuries and absentees, lining out with 6 u11s who were getting their first taste of u13 football. Our inexperience showed in the first half as Stacks were fast out of the blocks, building up a healthy lead by half time. Other teams would have thrown in the towel at this point but our lads battled for every ball in the 2nd half, kicking some great scores and with a little more luck could have been closer at the final whistle.

Final Score

Austin Stacks 5-8

John Mitchels Gold 2-10

In the 2nd game, our Green team were expecting a tight battle against the Rock and the early exchanges were close with both teams taking some good points. We began to find our feet though with the scores starting to flow and by half time we had tagged on 3 well taken goals and some beautiful points. We knew the Rock wouldn’t lie down and they really took the game to us in the 2nd half, matching us score for score. We defended solidly though and eventually ran out comfortable winners on the night.

FINAL SCORE

Austin Stacks 0-8

John Mitchels 4-12

Above all else it was great to see Football back after the lockdown. Many thanks to all who came down to cheer on the lads this evening.

Next Sunday we are away to Legion, who also started off their campaign this evening with a win. Training continues for both teams Tuesday and Thursday at 5.45. Team and match details will be finalised closer to match day

SENIOR MEN

The senior men played their first round of the county league division 1 away to Dr Crokes in Lewis Road. The first half was a tense affair with the chances going a begging for both teams. Unfortunately just after half time Dr Crokes hit us for an early goal in the 3rd quarter, while our lads battled to the end we came out on the wrong side of the result but focus now turns to our round 2 at home to Kilcummin next weekend details to follow.

Training for senior men are as follows Tuesdays- 7.30-9.00 and Fridays 7.30-9.00

CLUB COFFEE SHOP

We will have our little coffee shop open every Sunday for teas coffees and little treats.

All money raised goes to the upkeep of the club and for equipment for the juveniles.

We would like if all parents could support this as with no fundraising we are limited to funds. We introduced ice-creams and ice pops to the shop this week and they were a big hit. Everyone was kept cool after a lovely ice-cream after training Thanks to Hugh Maureen Linda and Sonya for running the shop so smoothly each week.

Enjoy a tea or a coffee while your child is at training

Looking forward to seeing you all every Sunday from 10.00- 12.00
