UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

57 boys and girls braved a poor weather forecast on Sunday but thankfully we remained dry for the most part.  It was a great session with everyone getting really stuck in.  Super fun and no little fun was had.

Next Sunday is teddy training Sunday so all teddy bears are invited to football training.  New members are more than welcome Sunday mornings at 11am in our Ballyseedy complex.  New members always welcome

U8/U10 GIRLS

The first training session of the season to be held in the rain meant that we have been very lucky so far, but despite smaller than hoped for numbers, the John Mitchel’s u8 and u10 girls still enjoyed a productive session.

Out on the main pitch, there was plenty of room for the group who jumped straight into a game after a quick warm up.

The hope was that the skills and drills picked up over the past few sessions would come out during the game. And the coaches were not disappointed as there was some excellent action, great passing, strong defence and good teamwork.

We were delighted to welcome two guests to training, Isla and Erin from Bredagh GAA Club in Belfast, with close links to John Mitchel’s.  They are 2 fine footballers, and we will keep an eye on their progress.

Our own girls showed their skills, with Caoimhe, Millie, Saoirse, Ava, Nicole, Ellie Mae, Amelia, and Roisin, all standing out.

Our best wishes also go out to Aebhín who injured her ankle during the week and we look forward to having her back.

Training continues next Sunday at 10.15am. All are welcome.

UNDER 15 BOYS

John Mitchel’s u15’s travelled to fossa Wednesday evening for their 3rd game in the division with the weather perfect for football Mitchel’s got off to a good start maintaining the high level of football throughout the game yet again everyone performed to a high standard and work rate not giving fossa any momentum to get going.

Mitchel’s were merciless from the get go with some beautiful football played and top class scoring it’sgetting harder every game to name a man of the match with every individual in great form James Roche took all the pressure off our defence with he’s huge kick outs midfield we’re outstanding paddy mc was subbed at half time with a thumb injury but nothing too serious thank god, all our forwards got on the score sheet with a final score of Mitchel’s 9-16 Fossa 1-3 we continue training every Monday and Friday @6-45 a big thank you to the parents that travelled with their players to the game next week sees us away to Templenoe and hopefully we’ll have the same support as the last away game hopefully we can keep this winning run going it’sgreat for team morale

John Mitchel’s picked up a good few injuries along the way but managed to get on the score board after a much needed break. Mitchel’s chipped away at the score board, but Laune rangers had control by then. Next game is away to Legion Monday 5TH July at 7.30. with training to follow on Thursday at 7.30pm.

SENIOR MEN

On Saturday, the senior men played home to Spa in the 3rd round of the county league on warm but dull evening. Mitchel’s worked hard throughout the game but late bursts from spa saw them the victors. Spa were first off, the mark but Mitchel’s responded with three points in a row in quick succession from James Duggan (2) and Thomas Keirns. Spa replied with two more scores to make it even but quick responses from George Bastible and Michael Wren put Mitchel’s in the lead at the water break. The game was levelled off again with a point from Spa who then shot and landed one at the back of the net. However, it was short lived when Alan and James levelled the game off once more to a half time score of Spa 1-06 John Mitchel’s 0-9. The third quarter was very nip and tuck once again although Spa were winning a lot of possession down the middle but had several passes turned over when moving the ball into the forwards. Two more scores for John Mitchel’sfollowed by two for Spa was anyone’s game from then and the crowd were kept entertained. Mitchel’s gained the advantage, and the score was now at 1-08 to 0-13 in Mitchel’s favour. When play resumed spa levelled the game for the eight time with points from Niall McCarthy and Liam Kearneymaking it 1-10 to 0-13. A superb point from Mitchel’s Michael Wren edged them in from once again but only momentarily as spa made their scores count and added to the score board. Mitchel’s were kept at bay by a very defensive Spa team and were overturned to leave the game very close going into injury time. Mitchel’s kept spa under sever pressure but time had run out for the boys. Final score Spa 1-14 John Mitchel’s 0-14.

John Mitchel’s division 6 team had a walk over on Sunday when on short notice Beaufort could not field a team. They Play Tuesday evening at home to Kerins O Rahilly’s in a semi-final at 7.30pm winners of that game progress to the final of the town league.

Training continues Tuesday evening in preparation for their next run out on July 18th away to Stack. More details to follow.

Do not forget to fill out the return to play form before each session.
