UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

We had a great turn out today with some very special visitors as the boys and girls brought in their teddy bears to watch training.  It certainly added colour to the occasion.

The level of improvement in the solo after motivated practice this week was brilliant.  Keep up the hard work everyone.
New members are very welcome, and we look forward to next Sunday at 11am.
Training continues on Sunday next at 11.00am. Hope you all enjoyed the teddy bear training today weather was not the best but everyone enjoyed cooling down with an ice cream from the shop afterwards.

Do not forget to fill out the return to play form before each session.

U8/U10 GIRLS

While there were threatening clouds, the rain never fell in Ballyseedy on Sunday morning with everybody training thankful for the dry weather.

And the John Mitchel’s u8 and u10 girls were there in force for another excellent training session. With games on the horizon, it is important that there is a good turnout for training to ensure that everybody is prepared for the games.

A few of the older girls went across to take part in some competitive games with the boys u-9s and u-11s, but the remaining girls got dug in, working hard on their marking drills and also their kicking.

The remainder of the game was spent playing a game, with the emphasis on marking, moving the ball quickly and getting players into space to support the ball carrier. Roisin, Ally, Siun and Caoimhe were excellent in this regard, while defensively Amberleigh, Clodagh, and Casey were to the fore, with Sophie getting some excellent scores.

Training continues next Sunday at 10.15 and it is important to get as many players as possible to training over the coming weeks.

Do not forget to fill out the return to play form before each session.

UNDER 12 GIRLS

U 12 girls played so well as a team in their match against Keirns O Rahilly’s. We came out on top in a very exciting game

Do not forget to fill out the return to play before each session.

Under 14/16 girls

Our u 14 girls played Rathmore in fantastic weather for what would be a great display of football throughout the game. The girls fought hard working the ball from kick off well inside their own backline up to the forwards, working 1,2s off the shoulder with many options up front .They took their chances and Lisa taking the frees keeping the score board ticking over in the first half. Rathmore let by 2-4 to John Mitchel’s 0-5 at half time. The attitude and determination from each individual player were immense . On the throw in once again the girls went at it with each players confidence growing on the ball and taking scoring opportunities. The backs were excellent in defence every score Rathmore got was by no mean easy with Mitchel’s taking back possession on numerous occasions, in their back line and moving it out to midfield which showed when a turnover ball deep inside the back line moving it into the forwards where Brid got a stunning goal. With no subs these girls really put it up to Rathmore showing excellent fitness and serious football skills. The game finished in a draw. Rathmore 3-06 John Mitchel’s 1-12

Training continues Wednesday 6.30pm, all welcome.

UNDER 15 BOYS

On Wednesday evening last we played Duagh at home in ballyseedy we knew we were up against it from the word go with the mist and rain slowly moving in it made for really difficult conditions for football our boys gave it their all with a few dubious refereeing decisions not going our way the ref had a poor game in my opinion but we still battled hard to the final whistle with the final score John Mitchel’s 2-12 Duagh 3-11 we still qualify for the semi-finals with fixtures to be arranged training continues Monday and Friday @6-45pm full attendance required 💚💛

Do not forget to fill out the return to play form before each session. New players always welcome.

UNDER 17 BOYS

Our U17’S traveled to Valentia Island Monday night to play Skellig Rangers/Valentia , thankfully we came out on top after a powerful performance against a bigger team, next game Monday night at home to Na Gaeil.

SENIOR LADIES

Senior ladies travelled to legion on Monday evening with another tough game under their belts. We were losing players to injury, but the ladies ploughed on as best they could and gave it 100%. It was anyone’s game in the first half with scores going in on both ends. Legs got tired and with so many injuries legion pulled away with the win. Fantastic effort was put in by both teams. The senior ladies face Clounmacon/Moyvane in the next round of the Donal Curtain cup with a home advantage on Monday the 12th of July @7.30 please show your support.

Anyone interested in joining should come along and give it a go. If you are 16 and over, you are more than welcome to join. Great way to meet new people and keep active also.

CLUB COFFEE SHOP

We will have our little coffee shop open every Sunday for teas coffees and little treats. All money raised goes to the upkeep of the club and for equipment for the juveniles. We would like if all parents could support this as with no fundraising we are limited to funds. We introduced ice-creams and ice pops to the shop this week and they were a big hit. Everyone was kept cool after a lovely ice-cream after training Thanks to Hugh Maureen Linda Ava and Sonya for running the shop so smoothly each week. We also welcomed another helper to the shop this week Abigail O Shea, its fantastic having so many volunteers to step in. If you would like to help out in any way, please make contact with Tanya or any coach or mentor on the premises.

Enjoy a tea or a coffee while your child is at training. Looking forward to seeing you all every Sunday from 10.00- 12.00

Block 11 Gym

Anyone wanting to do a bit of exercise while the kids are training on a Sunday morning, or any evening can avail of the on-site gym for as little as €5.00 each time or €40.00 per month. It would be a great way to stay fit, especially in the cold wet weather. There is a huge range of equipment to avail from and help is always on hand. Please contact Oliver for more information.

Boot Club

Boot club is still going strong, and parents and players are finding it great as a backup if boots are forgotten or on the way out as all teams have been training so hard lately. Feel free to take a pair when needed. Thanks to all who have passed on their boots.
