Last Sunday John Mitchel’s under 7s welcomed Churchill to our Ballyseedy complex for go games.  5 teams from each club under 7s took to the pitch and some great football was on display and no little fun was had by both sides.

Thanks to all parents for making the effort and there really was a lovely atmosphere surrounding the event.  Many thanks to Churchill for travelling in and we will welcome seeing them again soon.

Meanwhile our younger stars continued their training and practicing their skills in anticipation of taking to the pitch in the future.

Training continues next Sunday at 11am and we welcome new members

Following our first game of the season against St Pats of Blennerville last weekend, we were delighted to welcome Kerins O’Rahillys u8s and u10 girls to Ballyseedy on Sunday morning for more competitive games.

The weather conditions were terrific for the games, and both teams were very competitive, working hard and showing well for their teammates. This meant that there were some excellent scores and the excitement among the players and the spectators were high.

In the u8 game, there was special praise for Nicole, Brooke and Aeibhin, who were to the fore, assisted ably by Siun, Lucy, Ava, and Roisin.

Over on the u-10 team, Ava, Caoimhe, Maddison and Emma stood out, with back-up from Sophie, who grabbed 1-1, Ally who kicked a lovely point, and Aine, Roisin and Millie. It was definitely a step up from the last weekend and the games are really bringing the girls forward, as they work on their teamwork and concentration during the games.

Many thanks to Kerins O’Rahillys for the visit and to the referees for the day, Sadhbh and Sean.

Keep an eye out for our next game messages will be sent to parents in due course otherwise training continues on Sunday morning at 10.15am.

This Wednesday they host local rivals Kerins o Rahilly’s blues, elegiac will be looking to reverse the result of their latest NKL trophy final win by Mitchel’s. No doubt it will be another tight game.

With Rathmore only fielding one team, our Gold team had a by this evening. Our Green team were facing opponents who were a little bit of an unknown quantity, having come up in divisions. Playing against the wind in the first half, the Greens had plenty of possession but were finding it hard to score against a strong wind and an inspired Rathmore keeper who was proving very hard to pass. Half time saw us 3 points up but it could have been more, our own mistakes resulting in scores for the East Kerry lads.

The 2nd half saw the Greens tagging on a well worked goal and some well taken points, but Rathmore doggedly stayed with us, with a well taken goal. 7 points up at the water break, the greens pulled away nicely in the final quarter to run out deserved winners. A feature of tonight’s game was the part played by all four substitutes who came in and were an important part of a great win.

John Mitchel’s Green 5-19

Rathmore 3-10

The senior men had a challenging game away on Sunday afternoon in great conditions. They faced Dingle away in the 5th round division 1A  County League. Dingle came out pretty strong from the start and the scoring was hard to compete with. The boys gave it their all and did not come out the victors in the end. Final score Dingle 5-18 John Mitchel’s 0-11. Hard luck to our boys. The boys now have a relegation play off game next weekend all details T.B.C
