UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS
Following last week’s go games 59 of our future football stars lined out for training on a sunny Sunday morning.

After a brief warm up they were put into groups and each and every one continued to show significant improvement in all their footballing skills. To assist some of the coaches treated the children to an exhibition in soloing which was greeted with rapturous applause.

Training continues each Sunday from 11am. Please keep practicing at home.
Newcomers always welcome.

U8/U10 GIRLS
On a beautiful warm morning in Ballyseedy, there was a good turnout of players for u8 and u10 girls training.

After spending the previous two weekends playing games, it was good to get back to the training ground, and the session started with a discussion with the girls about what they learned during their matches.

We then moved onto a number of high-paced skills and drills to help with areas of play that the coaches felt needed to be worked on.

This was well received by the girls, who were very competitive throughout the training session and could see that the work they were doing on the training pitch was of use during game situations.

Throughout the game, Caoimhe, Ava, Karolina, Aine, Roisin, Nicole, Natalia, Aine, Aideen, Aeibhín, Síun, Ally, Peggy, Ava, Amberleigh and Sophie all worked hard and we finished the game with a possession, hand-passing game which saw some excellent tackling and defensive work.

The teams are planning a trip to Blennerville on Saturday Evening next to play St Pats. Details will be sent to parents during the week. We would love as many players as possible to turn up.

Under 11 Boys
John Mitchel’s U11 Boys were in action in Killarney last Thursday evening with 2 challenge games against Dr Crokes. Mitchel’s had a fantastic turn out & played with great passion against a skilled Crokes side. Our thanks to Dr Crokes for being great hosts & we look forward to a return game soon. Training for U11 Boys continues every Sunday Morning in our Academy from 10.15am All Newcomers Welcome.

UNDER 13 BOYS
On Friday evening our gold team took on Dr Crokes in a very wet Ballyseedy. Playing with the wind in the first half, we enjoyed plenty of possession but couldn’t translate to scores and Crokes were very much in the game at the half time break.

Our lads knew a strong defensive effort was needed in the 2nd half and the Golds really shut up shop, limiting Crokes scoring opportunities. At the other end two well taken goals gave us a hard earned six-point win at the finish.
FINAL SCORE
John Mitchel’s Gold – 5-3
Dr Crokes  2-6

A more benign evening weather wise lay in store for the Greens on Sunday evening, but no less a challenge from a Dr Crokes side who had run Laune Rangers close in the previous round.

From the start we dominated possession but repeatedly failed to push the advantage home on the scoreboard, giving the Killarney men a platform to get themselves into the game with two well taken goals. The sides were level at half time 1-4 to 2-1.

A similar pattern emerged in the second half, again we dominated possession but a combination of tenacious defending and poor options by the Greens was leaving the door open for Crokes. Pressure eventually told though and we picked off some nice scores to run out comfortable winners in the end.

John Mitchel’s Green 4-8
Dr Crokes 2-3
