U8/U10 GIRLS
There was a good turnout once more at Ballyseedy on Sunday morning for the John Mitchel’s u8 and u10 girls training session.
After having games, the last 2 weekends it was good to get back and look at what had worked for the players, what improvements were needed and what drills could be put in place in training to assist the girls in bringing those skills up to speed.
The competitive juices were quickly flowing as an early race between 2 groups of players was very tightly-fought. This was followed by some drills designed to get the girls to pick out teammates and improve their accuracy.

Following some tackling drills, the session ended up with a game between the players. It was clear from that game that the games against St Pats and Kerins O’Rahillys had really sharpened the players skills and the defending, blocking down and tackling was super, with some excellent scores taken, all hard-won.
During the game, Caoimhe, Millie, Karolina, Natalia and Siún were excellent, with Roisín D showing off her block down skills, and Lucy and Ally all standing out.
Training takes a break next Sunday before they go back to school and will resume the week after at 10.15
