UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS
Our brave under 7 boys and girls braved atrocious wet weather on Sunday and lined up ready for training. We had some great fun while facing terrible rain but everyone had a ball.
Training will continue again this Sunday at 11 and we look forward to welcoming new faces

U8/U10 GIRLS
Finally, our luck ran out in relation to the weather at a damp, wet Ballyseedy on Sunday morning for u8 and 10 girls training. It didn’t impact on the mood though as there was plenty of activity among the girls who brushed off the wet conditions to take part in an energetic session.
After challenge games the previous few weeks, the coaches were anxious to work on a few key areas that had been identified as needing work.

So, there was an emphasis on communicating, direct crisp passing and shooting.  After a few quick drills to emphasise this, the girls went straight into a game on a small-sided pitch to work on the link-up play. And after a few stoppages for coaches to highlight what was positive and what was not, the play flowed with everyone getting stuck in and working hard.
The players really worked on their game and the coaches were hugely impressed with the effort. In particular Caoimhe and Karolina were marking each other and gave no quarter. Also impressing was Siún, Teagan, Aine, Roisin, Ava, Lucy and Aeibhin.
Training continues next Sunday in Ballyseedy at 10.15. Again, all are welcome.

UNDER 12 GIRLS

John Mitchel’s U12s made the short trip to Ballyrickard on Sunday afternoon to take on Kerins O’Rahillys in the Tralee Town League and came away with a six-point victory 3-9 to 3-3.
Weather conditions made ball control slippery, and in a very tight first half, there were only 3 points between the sides at the break. At midfield Laoise and Kelly were working hard, while at centre-back Zoe was in good form, with Alannah and Gia in terrific form in the two corner back positions, Hannah and Dionne also working hard in the half-back line.
There were some excellent scores in the first half, with Nadia goaling and at the break it was still a very tight contest, with Maddison, Claudia

The second half saw James and Denis make changes both in personnel and positional, and these paid off, particularly with Chloe playing at full-forward, and winning plenty of ball, either laying it off for scores or taking her own chances. The direct ball into the full-forward line gave Kerins O’Rahillys no end of bother, and led to 2 further goals, Chloe grabbing one of them.

Despite this, Kerins O’Rahillys struck back for 2 quick goals bringing lead down to two points, but the defence, with Grace in fine form in goals, steadied the ship and Mitchel’s gained further control of the game further out the field. Isabel, Kerri, Ella, Anne Marie, and Robyn ensured Mitchel’s controlled possession around midfield and in attack, and with Amy, Lily, and Grace making themselves available for passes and setting up scores in the last quarter, Mitchel’s gave an exhibition of point scoring in the closing stages of the game, to stretch the lead out to six points at the final whistle.

A fantastic performance from all the squad in difficult conditions, and the team-work and companionship among the players is fantastic to witness.
They will face St. Pats this week to determine the final placings. Well, done to the girls.

SENIOR MEN
Our Senior men faced Killcummin on Sunday last at home in horrendous conditions. First 15mins were tricky with both sides slipping and losing possession with the downfall of heavy rain. The first 15 mins leading to the first water break had very low scoring on both sides with the score line of 0-01 John Mitchel’s 0-02 Kilcummin. There were some great scores on both sides coming up to half time with Kilcummin knocking in a goal to make the score line 1-07 to 0-05 to the visitors. The rain eased a little but the battle on the field kept going with Mitchel’s now trailing 1-12 to 0-07. 15 mins to go and Mitchel’s were creeping back in but it was too late in the game to even come level with the final score line John Mitchel’s 0-11 Kilcummin 1-17. Hard Luck Boys!!   Next outing is away to Dromid October 3s throw in at 2.30pm. Please show your support
