UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS
Our older under 7’s group welcomed Ardfert Sunday morning for some non-competitive Go Games. Both clubs put on an exhibition of free-flowing football in sunny conditions with an array of skills on view for their parents to witness. Great credit due to all the coaches and parents who helped out and thanks to Ardfert who travelled in great numbers.
In the hall, the under 5’s trained at the later time of 11 to facilitate the above Go Games. Great fun was had by all and next week we look forward to more football and games when they return to their 10.30am slot.
Training continues next week indoors for all in our fantastic indoor facility (new joiners always welcome):
Age: 4/5 years @ 10.30am
Age:  6/7 years @ 11.15am
Until then keep practising and as always please complete the Covid questionnaire.

U8/U10 GIRLS
The weather was surprisingly dry and warm in the middle of October as the pitches in Ballyseedy filled up for juvenile training on Sunday morning.
And with the girls u8 and 10 sessions in the AstroTurf pitch, it meant that conditions underfoot were dry and firm, perfect for a training session with dedicated, energetic young players.
Right from the off the session was competitive, with some tackling and shadowing drills, to ensure that the girls got their tackling and marking techniques right. This was carried over into the next drill, a two-on-two passing session with the teams attempting to dispossess each other.
Finally, the session ended with a tough-tackling game, with the girls encouraged to try out what they had picked up in the drills. There was no quarter given, with Sophie, Caoimhe, the 2 Evas, Natalia, Nicole, Siún, Aeibhin and Ali all standing out, with Ali’s scoring in particular looking impressive.
Training continues next Sunday morning in Ballyseedy at 10.15 with newcomer’s welcome.

UNDER 12 GIRLS

U 12 Tralee Town League Division 2A final winners who beat Austin Stacks B.

The u12 girls season finished on a high Wednesday evening when the won the Tralee town league division 2 A final against Austin Stacks B. Conditions were terrible, but despite the driving rain, all girls involved put on a real display of skill and great determination to entertain the crowd. John Mitchel’s came out on top in the end, but huge credit issue to Austin Stacks Bs who gave them a great game and are improving week on week. Congratulations to our girls, and to everyone involved in the running of the league this year.

Under 14/16 girls
Mitchel’s u14s are training in preparation for their upcoming Division 4 North Kerry league Shield final against Finuge/St.Sennans on Sunday 17th Oct in Crotta at 4.30pm. These two sides met 2 weeks ago in an epic clash in Mountcoal where the home side won by just two points. The repeat fixture will undoubtedly prove to be another tight affair. Best of luck to all.

UNDER 9 BOYS
John Mitchel’s older U9s played against St Joseph’s Doora Barefield on Saturday last in some challenge games. Our boys found the Clare very skilful but they kept the fate & got stuck in & played fantastic!! Well, done Boys & thanks for stepping up.
Meanwhile our U8 Boys trained as normal on Sunday. The session started with a quick HIT session followed by some ball work & then they had a great training game. Training continues for U9 Boys every Sunday Morning from 10.15am All Newcomers Welcome & don’t forget kids to. KEEP ON PRACTICING!!

Under 11 Boys
The Banner roared at John Mitchel’s GAA club grounds today when former John Mitchel’s man Aidan Moynihan brought an army of St Joseph’s Doora Barefield finest academy footballers to Tralee to take on Mitchel’s u10s and u11s boys.
Better known as a hurling stronghold, there was no doubt as the cars started to arrive that football is flourishing in Doora Barefield.
The weather was glorious and also the Pieta House cycling event DJ also gave great atmosphere to the day at John Mitchels. The recent inclement weather meant the ground was a touch on the soft side but in fairness overall the pitches were in great nick. Teams were split evenly into four and our u10s played in the floodlit whilst our u11s played on our main field.
Some of the football on display was exceptional and we expected nothing less from the boys of ‘The Parish’ – the tackling was tough and some of the points scored from out the field were absolutely outstanding. The games lasted for over an hour and by the end all of the players had literally left it all out there, definitely some tired bodies heading back across the Shannon and likewise our boys will sleep soundly tonight!!!

Huge thanks to Joanne, Shirley, Maggie, Megan Sadbh and Hannah for doing the goodie bags and the Sambos. Tanya for doing the shop, the referees Mark Clive Brendan and Pat and of course to the mentors who set up the pitches and who looked after the teams
Finally, a massive thanks to St. Joseph’s Doora-Barefield for making the trip to Kerry. It was a pleasure to host ye and we hope to reciprocate next year
