Huge congratulations to John Mitchels U13 Boys on their Tralee/St Brendan’s Div 1 Final against Churchill on a score line of 2-12 to 0-7.

UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS
We had 30 of our older under 7’s group train Sunday morning under the watchful eye of their coaches and parents. The focus for the session was on kicking and it was encouraging to see the improvement in this group from week to week.

To finish the groups were divided into teams of five where they played games against each other with the focus on team work.
Following this we had 26 of our under 5’s train with a combination of skill games and fun games on the menu for the morning.

Dodgeball and ship to shore proved to be the most popular with all the children contributing. At times the coaches were struggling to keep pace with the children due to their strong energy levels but thankfully there was just enough in the tank to complete the session!

Training next week indoors for all in our fantastic indoor facility (new joiners always welcome):
Age: 6/7 years @ 10.15am
Age:  4/5 years @ 11.00am
Until then keep practising at home.
Until then keep practising and as always please complete the Covid questionnaire.

U8/U10 GIRLS
The autumn sunshine brought another super turnout in Ballyseedy on Sunday morning for the u8 and 10 girls training. Spirits were high again this week and the girls got stuck in with great gusto to the drills and particularly in the training game which brought the fun filled session to a close.

Over the past few weeks, the coaches have been working hard on sharpening up the core skills and week after week the improvements are visible on the field.
There has been great emphasis on communicating, hand and kick passing and shooting, and the girls again showed great focus and brought great intensity to the session.

The players are really working hard on their game and the coaches are extremely proud of the effort they bring every Sunday morning. Thanks also to the wonderful parents who bring the girls to training. Ní neart go cur le chéile.

After a well-deserved rest this week, training continues next Sunday in Ballyseedy at 10.15. Again, all are welcome.

The u12 girls season finished on a high Wednesday evening when the won the Tralee town league division 2 A final against Austin Stacks B. Conditions were terrible, but despite the driving rain, all girls involved put on a real display of skill and great determination to entertain the crowd.

John Mitchel’s came out on top in the end, but huge credit issue to Austin Stacks Bs who gave them a great game and are improving week on week. Congratulations to our girls, and to everyone involved in the running of the league this year.
The season is now finished but we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

UNDER 13 BOYS
The U13 year finally came to a close on Sunday evening and what better way than to close out with a final. Churchill were our opposition in the Tralee and St Brendan’s League final, a mouth-watering prospect with these two sides having served up some great tussles the past few years and both sides having footballing talent in abundance.

The first half was a tight affair, both sides tenacious in the tackle while still managing to serve up some great football. The sides were level at half time at five points apiece, although our boys would have been value for a few points of a lead having missed some good opportunities

The 3rd quarter is often known as the Championship quarter, and Mitchel’s came out with a purpose, striking for two great goals in quick succession. Undeterred, Churchill continued to press hard but our backs defended well and limited Churchill to just two more scores.

The final whistle sounded to jubilant scenes for players and supporters alike, with David Sargent accepting the Shield on behalf of the club (and showing he has a real future in public speaking as well as Football!).
FINAL SCORE
John Mitchel’s 3-12
Churchill 0-07

A great season overall for this team with two titles captured and high hopes for the future for a great panel of players. On behalf of all the mentors, a special thanks goes to all the parents who ensured their young lads were at training and games all year. Without your support the team could not function.
Finally, apt acknowledgement of the commitment of Team Manager John Brosnan and mentors Sean Field, John Collins and Rodney Breen. The coaching and guidance given to the players through the year was second to none and motivated our lads to great performances from start to finish of the year.
