Youngsters taking part in the Sylvie Mason Blitz.

UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

49 boys and girls trained on Sunday in addition to taking part in the pre match formalities for the John Mitchel’s Sylvie Mason tournament.

In addition, 8 of our under 7s girls participated in the competition playing alongside their under 8 and 10s compatriots. They played outstandingly and are a credit to themselves and their parents.  To say, we as coaches, are very proud of them is an understatement.

Our next and last session of the year is Sunday the 28th of November.  I’m sure there will be a meal presentation and even some treats on the day.  Looking forward to seeing all our under 7s then
Training next week indoors for all in our fantastic indoor facility (new joiners always welcome):
Age: 6/7 years @ 10.15am
Age:  4/5 years @ 11.00am
Until then keep practising and as always please complete the Covid questionnaire.

U8/U10 GIRLS

The annual Sylvie Mason blitz brought our season to a close in great style last Sunday morning and with the quality of football on display it was a fitting end to a super season.

The atmosphere was electric and the girls put on a great display of football. The morning began with the traditional parade and the girls marched proudly around the pitch behind piper Karen Mc Mahon.

The girls were divided in to 4 teams, and each team was named after John Mitchel’s legends, John Dalton, Robert Dowd, John Thorny O Shea and Alan Conway. Competition was fierce and scores were hard fought for.

Throughout the morning the brilliant point scoring and tough tackling were there for all to see and when the scores were calculated after the round of matches it was Ava Byrne who led team Robert Dowd to victory.

The coaches would like to thank all the girls for the hard work and commitment throughout the season. We watched the girl’s footballing ability grow week on week and it made us very proud to see the quality of play at the blitz.

We wish all the girls who are moving on to u12s next year the very best of luck and look forward to welcoming all the girls who will join the squad from the academy.

See you all early in 2022. Padraig, Tanya and Brian.

UNDER 9 BOYS
Our u9s finished their season today in what was probably the nicest day of the year in 2021

16 degrees of heat welcomed our boys as they played in our famous Sylvie Mason end of year blitz.

We split into 4 teams and the games went on the average score (no points for winning) and boy did we have some morning of football.

The skills on show were superb with plenty of harassing tackling sprinting shouting and scoring with every kid getting a touch of the ball and the main thing Having Fun!!!! Also, the improvement in some of our boys was Brilliant!!

The winners collected their trophies and all the boys’ got medals and goodie bags to round off on what was probably the best day we had at the club this year.

We want to say a huge thanks to the boys and their parents for coming up every Sunday. Also, a massive thanks to the mentors and in particular Mark Mcevoy for organising a great year for our boys.
We wish you all health and happiness in the run up to Xmas and please remember keep practising your skills and we will see you all again in 2022
Up the Mitchel’s !!!💚💛👍💛💚💚💛💚💛

Under 11 Boys
Firstly, to say that we were blessed with the weather is an understatement! What a morning we had for our annual end of year blitz!

Our girls and boys took to the field for one last this year in eager anticipation of the action that lay ahead. Karen McMahon on bagpipes lead our small army of children down the main field and back again finishing off with a rousing rendition of the national anthem
Then it was straight into action!! After a morning of great skills, goals, points, dubious refereeing decisions and total action the following were the winning teams that so deserved the honor of winning on Sylvie Mason day
Team Robert Dowd – winners of Girls u8/10s
Team Bruddy Borrows – winners of boys u9s
Team Teddy Dowd – winners of boys u11s

Captains Ava, Ryan and Calvin collected the winning trophies to the delight of their team mates and both in their captains’ speeches thanked all the players and coaches for what was a great year

Huge thanks to Tanya, Sonya and Sadbh in the shop. Joanne, Megan and Hannah who did the goodie bags. Humongous thanks to Mark Mcevoy (Juvenile Chair) who organized the day brilliantly. Massive thanks also to George Lowe who said some lovely words about Sylvia Mason and the contribution he made to the club juvenile section all those many years ago. Also, thanks to the fields committee, referees, coaches’ parents and of course all of our future stars to make our last day the best day of the year 🤩🤩😃😃🙌🙌🙌
So that’s it for another year – please remember to keep practicing over the Winter, keep safe and see you all in early 2022
Up the Mitchels💛💚💛💚💛💚
