Hopefully we’ll have the usual face painting, flags and plenty of noise.

UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

We had a great morning training indoors in the hall in our Ballyseedy complex

The boys and girls demonstrated great enthusiasm in putting their ever-improving skills on display.  There was some fabulous football played,  along with numerous fun games.
Again, we will train next Sunday at 11am and as always new members are always welcome.

U8/U10/GIRLS

A hardy group of girls gathered on a wet Sunday morning for another great training session. Under the watchful eye of Brian, Tanya, Kieran, and the 2 Johns the girls went back to basics with footpassing handpassing and solo drills which they showed massive improvements in all parts of the game. In the game Clodagh Aideen Mikela, the 2 Suin’s and Milly were to the fore. All girls again are showing they are practising at home which is great to see. Training continues Sunday at 11 in Ballyseedy Complex new members all always welcome

U12Girls

Congratulations to our under 12 girls’ team who put in a super performance against local rivals Austin Stack on Sunday.

Testing conditions did nothing to dampen the fine football that was on display and the coaches were extremely proud of the great team work that was shown by all the girls.

We defended excellently and the hand passing and link up play on the lead up to our two goals was a delight to see.

The girls may only be together for a few short weeks but it’s fairly evident that as the weeks go on, they are developing in to a team that works hard for one another.

Training continues next Wednesday evening at 6 pm and we will hopefully have as many girls as possible marching at the St Patricks day parade.

We plan to meet at 11 am in Chamfers which is situated next to Aldi on the John Joe Sheehy road.

U14 Girls

John Mitchel’s u-14 girls travelled to Knockangoshel for their first competitive game of the season, when they took on their Knock-Brosna counterparts on Sunday evening. On a heavy pitch, the lack of game-time showed as the players were up against a determined Knock-Brosna team who worked hard from the off and grabbed some early goals to race into a lead that they never lost.
After the first water-break, coaches Denis, Padraig,  Karen and Eric made some quick adjustments and as the girls began to shake off the close-season rust, they began to get into the pace of the game. However, Mitchel’s still struggled to move the ball into scoring positions, despite the best efforts of captain Bridget, Kerri, Nadya and Ava.
The second half was much more competitive, with the Mitchel’s girls fully into the pace of the game, and their work rate was of a greater intensity, as Gia, Sadhbh and Eabha in the full-back line, Nicole, Ellie and Ava in the half-back line all worked hard.
The next game of the league will be at home next weekend against St Pats, with details on the game and training to be sent out to parents during the week.

U16s training continued this week on Wednesday evening on our Astro pitch and on Saturday afternoon also n preparation for upcoming county league fixture away to Spa.Training times:

Under 11Boys

We had another great turnout this morning in difficult conditions which is a credit to the kids and their parents . Anthony put the lads through a rigorous warm up and we followed this with some ball handling skills and tackling drills. We finished off with a full-length game which was very competitive. We possible will have a game next Sunday morning versus Na Gaeil . We will inform parents during the week .

Under 13 boys

Our 13s faced off against local rivals Austin Stacks this week in the Tralee and St Brendans League
Division 1
On Wednesday evening our As faced the Rockies in Round 2 of the Town League. Opening exchanges were tight but we soon found our groove and built up a healthy lead by half time. Stacks to their credit never gave up and picked off some well taken scores but at the end other our lads kept the scoreboard ticking over to be on top at the final whistle
Final Score
John Mitchels A 3-21
Austin Stacks A 2-6

Division 3
On Sunday our Bs were against the men from Rock Street as well. Stacks were fast out of the blocks and by half time were nicely clear – 3-3 to 1-2. Undeterred, our lads put in a great 2nd half performance to turn it all around to run out clear winners in the end. This was the 2nd week in a row these lads came from behind and there is obviously a lot of fight as well as talent in a young team.
Final Score
John Mitchels B 5-10
Austin Stacks B 4-3

SYMPATHY:

Terry Nammock RIP

Terry Nammock.

A dark cloud hung over Boherbee on Tuesday afternoon as word reached us of the passing of our esteemed member Terry Nammock.

A born and bred Boherbee man, Terry will be fondly remembered as one of our biggest supporters. Famous throughout the county for his bellow of ‘The Mitchel’s Roar’, Terry always had words of encouragement for players after a game, win, lose or draw, always looking forward to the next game.

All corners of the county were travelled in support of his beloved John Mitchel’s.

Terry himself wore the famed Boherbee colours with distinction winning a county under 21 championship medal in 1983 and being part of the 1985 B Championship winning team.

Terry took great pride in watching his two sons follow his footsteps as a netminder for the club. Both Shane and Peter carried on the goalkeeping tradition, though Terry would never give away who he thought was the better goalkeeper.

Terry enjoyed a memorable day in September 2011 when both Peter and Shane won the Molyneaux Cup and Terry and Caroline shared a lovely moment on the pitch afterwards with their two boys.

Whilst Terry had health issues over the last couple of years, this didn’t stop him hitting the road and travelling to watch the green and gold all over the county. Terry also followed Kerry to venues all over the country and also followed Munster in their Heineken Cup travels.

It is hard to believe that we will never hear the famous Mitchel’s Roar again bellowing from ‘The great’ Terry Nammock.

We send our sincere condolences to Terry’s wife Caroline, sons Shane and Peter, daughters Niamh and Lorraine, brother Brian and all Terrys family and extended family , neighbour’s and wide circle of friends.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam
