UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

We had a lovely morning for training Sunday.  The boys and girls put in a tremendous amount of energy to make for a very enjoyable session.

We had some super skill practice and go games among ourselves.

Training continues next Sunday.  And as always, we welcome new members to train with us at 10.30

U8/U10/GIRLS

We had fantastic numbers on Sunday morning for our 8s and 10s girls.

We went straight into a warm up to get the girls going.

Next, they went into practising their hand passing skills and kicking skills.

The girls worked hard at all the drills that were put in front of them and are improving each week.

Next training is Sunday 15th at 10.30am-11.30am

All new players welcome.

U12 GIRLS

North Kerry Div 4 plate final

John Mitchel’s 3:11 Kerins O Rahilly’s 0:05.

Our U12 girls played the best football of the season so far as they overcame local rivals Kerins O Rahilly’s in the North Kerry Div 4 plate final,  played at home on Wednesday evening last.

The Mitchel’s girls started very brightly and played some great football. Our kick passing was exceptional and we caused the Kerins O Rahilly’s defence all sorts of problems early on.

Amy Noonan and Ciara Harris raised 2 green flags just before half time and the Mitchel’s girls were playing with great confidence and didn’t look like they could be beaten. It was a super team performance and our defence was rock solid. Every girl played their part on the evening and it was great that all 24 girls got to take part in the final.

We begin our County football league campaign at home to Duagh this Wednesday evening. Throw in is fixed for 7:30 pm and we will gather at 7 pm.

The coaches would like to thank all the girls for the commitment this year. We have 25 girls who give it their all every training session and the work that’s being put in is very visible when they put on the green and gold jersey.

We would also like to welcome Mia Osiecka to the U12 team and she and her family are very welcome to the club.

We would also like to congratulate our star midfielder Amy Noonan who won the 600-meter gold medal at the county athletics championships on Sunday.
All your teammates and mentors are very proud of you.

U14 GIRLS

It was an early start for the u14 girls’ team on Sunday morning as they gathered for training.

The team were fresh though, having had a break since Bank Holiday Monday, when the majority of them were involved in the u15 Féile tournament which was hosted by John Mitchel’s.

But there were no cobwebs on Sunday morning as the players started out with a few ball drills, concentrating on hand to eye coordination and ensuring possession of the ball.

Coaches, Denis, Padraig, Eric and Karen kept the drills moving and finished training with a kicking drill, practising their shooting and testing Grace in goals.

Training continues on Thursday from 6-7pm.

U16 GIRLS

U16 ladies were in county league action in Tralee on Thursday night when they hosted Castlegregory in round 4.

A brilliant game of football with end-to-end scoring. Two early goals from a strong Castlegregory side, followed by a couple of well taken points gave the home side a lot to think about.

However, as the game progressed John Mitchel’s found their feet and began to get a foothold in the game with goals from Bríd o Shea and Ellie Reidy.

But the away side proved to be too strong in the end, and pulled ahead to secure the points.

Superb effort from both teams.

Final Score:

John Mitchel’s 3-05

Castlegregory 7-09

Training continues Tuesdays and Fridays at 7pm, all newcomers welcome.

UNDER 9 BOYS

John Mitchel’s U9 Boys put in another great training session on Sunday last.

As usual we started off with a few stretches & a good warm up & then our lads were raring to go.

This week we also welcomed new member Lucas Sugrue to our Team another great addition to our growing Juvenile Academy.

UNDER 11 BOYS

We welcomed the Rockies to Ballyseedy on Thursday night in Round 4 of the County League .

What a performance by both our U11 teams against two strong Rock teams.

Our boys showed their dedication , heart and no little skill and put on an exhibition of football in both games.

Great to see all those smiling faces after the game , the future is bright 💚💛.

Training continues Sunday morning at 10.30. We play Milltown Castlemaine in our final league game of Phase 1 next Thursday night in Ballyseedy at 6.30pm. All support greatly appreciated.

UNDER 13 BOYS

Sunday evening saw our final games in Phase 1 of the County League, Keel/Listry being our opponents. Both their A and B teams had a similar record to ours so an interesting evening lay ahead.

Our Bs were first up and were looking to complete Phase 1 on a winning note The lads didn’t disappoint putting in probably their best performance of the year so far to run out winners in the end by a margin of 5 points

This is a very young team, composed mainly of u11s, so to put in a performance like this is great to see! The lads deserved a win for their efforts in Phase 1 and they will grow in confidence for this.

FINAL SCORE
John Mitchel’s B 1.- 13
Keel/Listry B 2 – 4

In the following game, our As faced a Keel/Listry team whom we have had some great clashes with over the past year at u13 levels. The visitors started in whirlwind fashion and had 1-1 on the board before we had a chance to draw breath!

The lads settled into the game though and took some nice scores to leave us 5 points up approaching half time. A well taken Keel/Listry goal reduced the deficit to 2 at the break.

We knew we were in for a tough battle in the 2nd half but the As responded in kind, dominating possession for the half, but Keel/Listry remained in the game right to the death, reducing the deficit to 1 point. The As clung on though for a well-deserved win.

FINAL SCORE
John Mitchel’s A 2-14
Keel/Listry A 3 – 10

Tonight’s win leaves us in 2nd place in Division 1, a fantastic end to Phase 1, and well deserved for the teams’ efforts so far. We await confirmation of fixtures for Phase 2 which begins on May 22nd. Training continues Wednesday at 7pm and Friday at 8pm.

FIXTURES
None this week

UNDER 15 BOYS

On Wednesday last we made the short journey to Faranfore to face Firies in the div1 shield semi-finals we went there with a reasonably under strength squad due to injury but did the best we could on the night

Firies 6-08 (26)
John Mitchel’s 3-11 (20)

Best of luck to Firies in the next round

We will resume training Monday and Friday @5-45pm as we await fixtures for the central league and other competitions 💚💛

UNDER 17 BOYS

Our Minors got their Central League Campaign Underway Monday night at home v Glenbeigh Glencar Cromane .

After a poor first half which saw us well down our boys put in a massive all-round performance in the second half to come away with a two-point victory keeping our opponents to only two scores in the second half.

Special congrats to our Sean Corkery and Sean Og Brosnan who represented the club for the Kerry Development Squad at the weekend.

Next up for us is An Ghaeltacht away at 7pm Monday night in Gallarus, Training continues Wednesday and Friday evenings

SENIOR LADIES

Our senior ladies faced group favourites Southern Gaels B at home in Ballyseede in somewhat windy conditions which kept scores hard to come by, with some outstanding defending on both sides we went in down by 4 points at half time , the second half was nip and tuck with both sides not converting some gilt edged chances, Mitchel’s brought it back to a 1 point game with 3 minutes to go ,, despite our ladies best efforts we didn’t get much change from the southerners defence and lost out on a final score 1-1 to 0-9 , a great team effort from start to finish from all our players and we can only take many positives into our next game v Dingle which is down for throw at 12 noon on Sunday 15th May at home. Please show your support.
