UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

We will take a little break for a few weeks and resume training in September.

As always new members are very welcome

U8/U10/GIRLS

The girls enjoyed a training session on a fabulous August morning .Numbers were small enough but the girls got stuck in with hand passing drills and kick passing. The girls took some much needed water breaks as it was very humid but got stuck into the training session and had a much needed game at the end.

The under 10s have a Blitz next Sunday away in Milltown and the under 8s will have their training session. We will send  all  formation out to parents in due course.

U12 Girls

The girls  had two really contrasting sessions in Ballyseedy this week, Wednesday night in the rain and Sunday morning in the blistering heat. The girls have shown great commitment this summer and the energy levels and intensity has been a joy to watch.

Thanks to the parents and guardians for bringing the girls to training every week, it’s great to see friendships growing which will hopefully last for years to come.We will train on Wednesday evening at 7 and Sunday morning at midday.

U14 GIRLS

What a difference a few days make! On Friday of last week the John Mitchels u14 girls travelled to play Ballymac in the North Kerry League, with discussions between  both teams about about the heat.

Fast forward three days later and our home game against Currow had to be abandoned due to thunder and lightning and torrential rain.

That game has to be refixed, but this week sees John Mitchels host Duagh on Tuesday night at 7pm.

This will be followed the following Tuesday by an away trip to Listowel to play Listowel Emmets at 7pm.

U16 GIRLS

Training for U16 ladies continues this Monday evening from 6.00-7.00pm in preparation for upcoming North Kerry League

All newcomers welcome.

U 9 Boys who played against Churchill on a glorious Sunday morning in Churchill

UNDER 9 BOYS

John Mitchels U9 Boys were invited out to Churchill on Sunday morning last to take part in mini Blitz. There was 3 teams involved Churchill, Castlegrgory & ourselves. Each team played 3 very competitive games  with some fantastic displays of tackling defending & scoring from all team’s.

Our sincere thanks to @churchill_gaa for inviting us & well look forward to meeting up again in the next few weeks.

UNDER 11 BOYS

We welcomed the Rockies to Ballyseedy on Thursday night in Round 3 of the Central League .

What a performance by both our U11 teams  against  two strong Rock teams. Our boys showed their dedication , heart and no little skill and put on an exhibition of football in both games. Great to see all those smiling faces after the game , the future is bright .

Training continues Sunday morning at 10.30. We are away to our friend in Na Gaeil next Thursday night at 7pm . All support greatly appreciated.

The u13 boys who were crowned champions of this years Rose cup who they beat Ardfert in the final on Saturday

UNDER 13 BOYS

On Wednesday there was another good win for our U13 B team  against Austin Stacks in the Central League on a scoreline of 5-7 to 0-8.

Our Bs remain unbeaten in the central league going into the final round of games and are now guaranteed a semi final spot.

On Saturday, the focus was firmly set on the Rose Cup, which made a welcome return following a Covid enforced hiatus with teams travelling from Cork, Limerick and Waterford as well as the home representatives. First up for us was Churchill and this proved to be a tough battle as always.

The concession of an early goal wasn’t a deterrent as we came back well to secure a 4 point victory. Our next group game was versus Ballyduff Upper from Waterford which resulted in a comfortable victory for our lads but full credit to the Deise lads who fought hard to the end. The final group game was a straight shoot out with Cordal to decide who qualified for the Shield or Cup.

Our boys were really hitting their groove now and ran out convincing winners to top the group and set up a clash with Legion in the Cup Semi Final. Playing with the wind in the first half, the boys built up a nice lead but the concession of two goals in quick succession just before half time saw us level at the break.

The lads knew they had to up it for the 2nd half and in a fantastic display of football ran out 6 point winners in the end in what was a brilliant game of football by both sides.

Ardfert lay in wait in the final, very much an unknown quantity but who had qualified impressively from the other side of the draw. Some great football in the first half saw us build up a comfortable lead by half time.

Ardfert came out like men possessed after the break though, and reduced the deficit to a single point. The game was now very much in the melting pot but our lads showed true character to turn the momentum back our way again and run out victors by a 7 point margin.

All credit to Ardfert who played some fantastic football throughout the competition and contributed to a high class and dramatic final!

Cody Murphy accepted the cup as captain of the team from the reigning Rose of Tralee Sinéad Flanagan to the great joy of his teammates, parents and supporters alike.

It was a brilliant day out and kudos to the Rose Cup organisers for putting on a superbly run tournament. Well done to all our lads on a well deserved victory. They represented John Mitchels fantastically on the day and are great ambassadors for the club.

Many thanks to Mark McEvoy for supplying well deserved treats for the team after the final. In an apt footnote, coach Sean Field was celebrating a 2nd Rose Cup victory having previously captured a winners medal as a player in the inaugural competition.

He couldn’t/wouldn’t tell us what year though and we won’t mention what club he played for either!! Next Sunday sees us play our final group games in the Central Region League vs NaGaeil, time to be confirmed.Training continues Wednesday at 7pm and Friday at 8pm.
