UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

We returned to training this morning after a small break.

The boys and girls were full of enthusiasm and great fun was had by all.  The fact that it was dry and sunny only emphasized the fun that was had by all.  It was great to be back at football and wonderful to welcome some new faces.

We train again on Sunday at 10.30 am at our Ballyseedy complex.  Again, new members are always welcome.

U 8 Girls who played Na Gaeil on Sunday morning.

U8/U10/GIRLS

Our u8s hosted Na Gaeil on Sunday morning.

A fantastic morning’s football where each girl played brilliantly.

All the skills were on show which is great to see.

Thanks to all the girls’ parents who continue to bring the girls to training.

Also, thanks to Na Gaeil for visiting we hope to see ye again soon.

U10 girls who took part in the milltown castlemaine blitz. .

Our u 10s traveled to Milltown on Sunday last where they took part in a blitz.

The girls faced Milltown/Castlemaine, Laune Rangers and Stacks in 3 very competitive games.

A fantastic display of teamwork and sportsmanship was shown by all the girls present and they were a huge credit to the club and parents.

in defense we had Teagan, Peggy, Aideen and Ava C. Millie and Miceala were outstanding in midfield and the forwards we had Ava B Caoimhe, Aine, Natalie, Emma, Clodagh, Roisin and Aoibhean who had the opposition under pressure at all times.

The girls showed great spirit and determination in all games.

Training continues for both u8s and 10s on Sunday Mornings from 10.30am to 11.30am

New players always welcome.

U12 Girls

We will play Na Gaeil in the Tralee town league at home in Ballyseedy on Sunday evening at 6 pm.

We have made a massive effort on the training pitch over the past 2 months, so we are hopeful of a positive reaction when we face the girls from Killeen next weekend.

Training resumes on Wednesday at 7 pm and full attendance is required.

We are delighted to welcome Shauna to our team, and we are delighted with how the squad has grown since we began our journey back in March.

U14 GIRLS

A busy week for the John Mitchels u14 girls’ team as they played 2 games in the North Kerry League and came out with full points thanks to 2 wins.

First game was the trip out to Listowel to take on Emmets and it was to be a strong start that saw us take the victory.

With the added complication of basketball trials clashing, we were faced with losing key players for the second half of the game. As a result, it was imperative that we had a strong lead built up at the break to withstand any comeback.

And the girls did exactly what they were told, building out a 6-3 to 0-1 lead at the break, with goals from Ella McCannon,  Kerri Falvey, Lisa O’Shea and Ellie Reidy.

The second half saw Mitchels control the game and with the girls, led by captain Nicole Hennig locking down the defense  Emmets only managed 2 points for a comfortable 6-7 to 0-3 win.

On Thursday, we hosted Currow in a back game, and again we dominated the early exchanges, but found it tougher to score as Currow put extra bodies on the edge of the square.

However, with Kerri Falvey scoring an important goal, as well as further scores from Lisa O’Shea and Ellie O’Rahilly, we were in control at half time.

The second half saw Currow threaten to come back into the game, but Rhianna O’Brien was sent on to do a marking job on Currow’s danger midfielder, and locked her down, completely reducing her effectiveness.

Along with substitutes Hannah Roches and Faye Moloney, Mitchels reduced Currow’s scoring chances and with Ciara Harris and Nadya Rivas McHugh working hard up the field, Mitchels pushed out to a 3-14 to 1-5 win.

The final game of the round will see Mitchels away to Finuge St Senans on this Tuesday in Finuge, with a home game on Thursday at 6.30pm against Churchill in the Tralee Town League.

U16 GIRLS

John Mitchels u16s faced Ballyduff in their first game in the North Kerry league in Tralee on Aug 28th.

All girls involved put in a huge effort and gave a great account of themselves.

After a few second half goals the visitors had pulled ahead by full time, final score J Mitchels 1-06 Ballyduff 4-06.

John Mitchels u16 girls will face Castlegregory in the next round in Castlegregory, date and time tbc.

John Mitchels first year U9s were away away to Na Gael

UNDER 9 BOYS

John Mitchels first year U9s were away to Na Gael on Sunday.

Despite the bad forecast it actually turned out to be a beautiful morning & both sides played some excellent football.

Our thanks to @nagaeilgaa for hosting and also for the fantastic hospitality afterwards.

U9 Boys training continues this Wednesday times to follow.

John Mitchels U11 Boys doing the club massively proud in the Milltown blitz earlier today. Shield victors and very unlucky not to be in the Cup phase losing out on points difference.

UNDER 11 BOYS

Our U11 boys played in the Miltown Castlemaine U11 blitz on Sunday.

On what was a great day for football our boys finished joint top of their group with Miltown Castlemaine having beaten Churchill and Kilcummin, we lost out by 2 points to Miltown Castlemaine in a very tight game .

As we lost the head-to-head, we entered the Shield semifinal.

In a titanic battle against Kennare , a last-minute goal got us through to the final.

The boys saved the best for last and put on an exhibition of football to beat Listry in the final. Captain Fionan O Callaghan received the shield from Kerry player Mike Breen to huge cheers from his teammates and supporters. A fantastic bunch of kids who deserved great credit for their heart and application all year. A special thank you to the organizers of the blitz, which was run to perfection.

Training continues Sunday morning at 10.30

Great win by the John Mitchels U13 A team against Milltown:Castlemaine in the Central League semi-final.

UNDER 13 BOYS

Another significant evening for our U13 A’s as they went into battle against Milltown-Castlemaine in the semifinal of the Central Region League in Ballyseedy on Sunday.

We were a little slow out of the blocks with the visitors defending resolutely in numbers and causing us issues on the break.

We went into half time 3 points to the good but having played with the wind the lads knew they had to up the effort significantly in the 2nd half. Up it they did and the A’s tagged on some fine scores in the 2nd half while limiting the oppositions scoring opportunities at the other end. Another final awaits, this time against Na Gaeil, date and venue to be confirmed.

FINAL SCORE
John Mitchels A 2-15
Milltown-Castlemaine A1-6

Our Bs had a week off this week but are scheduled to play Laune Rangers in the Central League Div 1B semifinal next Sunday in Ballyseedy.

Training continues – day to be confirmed by coaches.

UNDER 17 BOYS

Unfortunately, our minors were defeated by Tarbert after a great team performance in the first round of the Club Championship by 4 points out in Tarbert. We now face Firies in the Shield next Saturday.

Training Tuesday and Thursday 7pm.

SENIOR LADIES

Our senior ladies made the short trip to Currow today to play in round 3 of the Randles Junior B championship.

Conditions were windy and Mitchels having won the toss played with the wind.

Mitchels pressed from the throw in, and early pressure led to a pointed free from Diana followed by points from Ava, Rachel and 2 from Lynda to put us 5 up.

Currow opened their account soon after but a tackle on our forwards led to a penalty which was saved by Currow goalie.

From the kick out Mitchels had another point and a second penalty converted by Diana.

With our backs Anna, Ashleigh, Shannon and Julie on top we pressed forward through Sarah and Simi at midfield and further points from Linda, Rachel and Diana saw us go 7 points before a currow goal on the half time whistle leaving score Mitchels 1-11 Currow 1-3.

The second half was a tight affair with Ava hitting a point from the restart before some fine saves by Kayleigh kept us in touch with Julie and Tanya on top in defense more scores from Rachel a Goal and points from Diana and Linda before Ava went off injured , Emilia ,Emma and Abigail all working hard in the forwards led to a further points and Lilly , Sandra and Claire came on to close out the game leaving mitchels winning on a score 3-15 to Currow 2-5.
