SENIOR LADIES

Training continued in very testing conditions on Thursday last with a great attendance and a huge effort was made by all players.  A further training session took place on Sunday in a slightly drier climate and again the large attendance put in a solid effort in the various skills of the game.  We had no fixture in the Donal Curtin this week but look forward to our next game in the competition an away trip to Southern Gaels where hopefully we can get our campaign back on track with a positive result in South Kerry.
Training continues this Thursday at 7.15 in preparation for that fixture and as always new members are always more than welcome to join.

The u14 green team who were in action on Friday evening v Dr Crokes and also came out victors’ great game by the ladies. Well done.

Under 14 Girls

The u14 girls Green team was in action on Friday night in our last game of the u14 NCP Co League.  We hosted Dr Crokes and knew that a victory would see us qualify for the semi finals of the competition.
Dr Crokes were going to provide a significant test, and in addition John Mitchels were missing a number of key players. As a result a number of girls were from the Gold team got the call to help out and to a person, they were outstanding.
From the start the Mitchels piled on the pressure and kept it there, creating numerous scoring chances and restricting Crokes to very few chances.
Early goals for Kerri Falvey, Tara Dowling and further scores from Kerri and Amy Noonan pushed Mitchels into a commanding position.
Crokes came back into the game midway through the half, but Mitchels were in control and led comfortably at the half.
With a stiff breeze against them in the second half, Mitchels were expecting the Crokes to come back strongly, but an early goal from Kerri Falvey put Mitchels into a commanding lead, and they controlled the remainder of the half, with further scores from Caoimhe Nammock and a goal from Ciara Harris.
A well deserved win for Mitchels, with Amy Noonan and Rhianna O’Brien excelling in midfield, and Nicole Hennig and Hannah Roche outstanding in the half back line.
Captain Sadhbh Corkery commanded the defence with Gia Sharma also standing out. A special mention must go to Alannah Doody, Anna Marie Perkins and Ally Spring who got last minute call ups and played outstanding football, working hard and ensuring the standard never slipped.
The Gold Team are in action on Thursday Next away to Shannonside Tarbert and we wish the team the very best of luck.

Under 9 Boys

John Mitchels U9 Boys put in a fantastic training session on Sunday last. Our boys started out with good physical warm up & then on to some ball skills where they practiced there kicking & pick up’s. Once all that was done it was straight into games where everything they did previously came into play. We had 4 teams & played 2 highly competitive games amongst ourselves before we ended the session & well done to all involved fantastic improvements every week. Next Sunday we are away to Austin Stacks parents will be notified via text during the week until then kid’s keep on practicing.

our u11 boys who hosted Rathmore on Thursday evening in the go games. Well done boys

Under 11 boys

This week our U11 boys welcomed Rathmore to John Mitchels for our last County Go Game of Phase 1. The weather went against us but that didn’t dampen the spirits. Our boys played some brilliant football against a big and strong Rathmore side and we were very proud of them. Next Thursday we don’t have any game but will train from 6-7 on the main pitch.

Under 13 Boys

Neither team got out in competitive action this weekend, but the boys had earned the weekend off after a tough few weeks where both the gold and green teams played some excellent football.
We trained well this week in anticipation of phase two of the championship and the lads are raring to go again.
Management, players and the club would also like to wish our walking wounded a speedy recovery and we look forward to welcoming them back.

u15 boys who took part in Feile on friday evening and saturday morning

Under 15 Boys

On Friday evening last we started our bid to qualify for the Feile competition 2023 our first game was against Na Gaeil which we won quite comfortably in the end.

Next up were Firies who proved to be very competitive leading by 2pts in the last minute, we switched off for a brief moment allowing Firies in for a late goal. We still qualified for the semi finals which was played in Austin stack Park on Saturday morning against a very strong Keel/Listry team leading by a couple of points at the break.

On the restart we found ourselves on the back foot conceding a penalty to trail by 2.The boys fought hard to bring the margin down to a single point. We had a free fall short with the last kick of the game and lost out by a single point.

Fair play to the boys they left it all out there on the day but it wasn’t to be. The boys have a league semi final coming up so we need to prepare for that. Training time tbc we will notify everyone through  whatts app. Very hard luck boys but there’ll  be better days ahead so be very proud of the  efforts in representing John Mitchels keep the heads up boys Na misteallaig Abu

Also a  huge thanks to Sharon Mc Donnell Harris, Shanon Martin and Emilia  Obrusnik for running the shop on the eveing of the Feile. Well done to all volunteers.

Minors

We had our first game  of central region  competition  against Na Gaeil  away. We were  slow to get going  but we finished  very strong  probably  our best performance to date.  The boys were very unlucky  not come out of it without something . Against strong opposition  we showed what we are made of. Our next  game is on  Monday the  08th at home throw in at 7pm against Castleisland Demonds who are a serious outfit as well,  so all support  welcome.
