MitchelsIMPORTANT NEWS FLASH
All roads, ring roads and bye roads will lead to the Miitchels Centre of Excellence, Camp, Ballyseedy, Tralee on Sunday next March 1st from 10.00 a.m.

A Special appearance will be made by the Sam Maguire Cup. The Cup will be collected in South Kerry by one of our Officers early on Sunday morning to ensure that it is delivered safely to the Mitchels Centre. This will be a fabulous occasion for the Club.

Shane O’Connor and Niall Sheehy who are on the U21 Football Kerry Panel will be present. We are also hopeful that a one of the Kerry Players will be in attendance also but this is dependant on their busy schedule.

The Club will also be carrying out the registration of the Juvenile section on that morning also together with the promotion of our Sale of Block and Sale of Seat to help promote the Club and it’s success into the future.

To illustrate the growing success of the Club In 2014, we registered 213 juvenile boys and 146 juvenile girls. The increased popularity of the juvenile girls was due partly to the Gaelic 4Girls Initiative undertaken by the Club.

As of previous years, juvenile registration remains at just €20 for both boys and girls, this fee covers registration to the men’s/ladies county boards, John Mitchels will continue to subsidise the ladies county board fees saving each player €32 per year.

BUY A SEAT/BLOCK FUNDRAISER
To ensure the long-term financial sustainability of our relocation project, the club is re-launching our two fundraising schemes in which you, your family and you friends can assist John Mitchels.

The first “sponsor a stand seat” scheme at a cost of €150 per seat, where we aim to raise €36,000.

The second is “buy a block” at a cost of €50 per block, our aim here is to sell 1,000 blocks to club supporters.

Contributors to either scheme will be acknowledged in perpetuity in the foyer of our sports complex.

So make sure Parents and children of all ages come along for a great morning of fun and celebration.

County League Fixtures 2015
John Mitchels 0-9 Beaufort 1-12
This was not the performance that Mitchels were looking for in the opening round of the Co League. The Minor team have been going well in the Town League but left that form behind this week and were given a real eye opener to what they will face if they are not at their best in this division. Beaufort were strong in possession and carried the ball very well. They took their chances well. Mitchels with probably equal opportunities but their finishing was poor. Cian O’Brien rattled the crossbar and if the attempt was successful it could have changed the outcome of the match. All that said their was some excellent individual performances Martin Burke , Darcy O Sullivan, Jordan Bowler played well Patrick Kearney and Michael Walsh also tried their heart out. There is definitely a lot better to come.

SENIOR LADIES
Paudi O’Se Tournament
The Ladies took part in the Intermediate section of the Paudi O’Se Tournament on Saturday last. This was a big step up for the team as they had played in the Junior section in 2014. There were four teams in this section, John Mitchels, Belgium, Lucan Sarsfield and Ballinhoole.
We were drawn against Belgium in round one, a repeat of the 2014 opening game which saw Belgium win the junior section of this tournament. Belgium opened the scoring with an opportunist goal, Mitchels settled quickly and soon had 1-6 on the scoreboard, both sides then exchanged both goals and points for the rest of the half, however John Mitchels out scored the opposition by a further three points to leave the half time score 4-09 to 3-3.
The second half was a more even affair. Once again both sides exchanged scores throughout this half and with just 13 minutes on the clock there were only four points between the sides, the Mitchels ladies dug deep for the remaining time and extended their lead to leave the full time score John Mitchels 7-16; Belgium 7-08. Players to impress in this game included Katelyn O’Sullivan who had a personal tally of 2-09, Erris O’Carroll, Lyndsey Moriarty and Orla Cannon.
This victory set us up for a meeting with Ballinhoole who had a one sided victory over Lucan in their opening match. Mitchels were down four players from their opening game due to injuries and through work commitments, the first half of this game was more evenly matched, however Ballinhoole our scored Mitchels by four points to leave the half time score John Mitchels 0-3; Ballinhoole 0-7. The effects of the hard game vs Belgium told in the second half of the final, where once again the Mayo ladies out scored the Mitchels ladies to leave the full time score John Mitchels 0-6, Ballinhoole 1-09. Players to impress here included Ariane Finnegan, Ashleigh Murphy, Kayleigh McCarthy and Niamh Dillane. Well done to all the players who played their hearts out over the two matches, especially to the five girls from last years u-16 team who played fantastic football on the day.
The team and scorers included Michelle Lynch, Diana O’Keeffe, Kayleigh McCarthy, Lyndsey Moriarty, Catherine O’Shea, Patriz Brosnan, Orla Cannon, Jane Carmody (0-1), Tasha O’Sullivan (2-5), Cliodhna Hayes (1-3), Katelyn O’Sullivan (2-11), Carron O’Brien (0-1), Ashleigh Murphy, Erris O’Carroll (2-1), Ariane Finnegan, Michaela Hennessy, Tara Fitzgerald, Niamh Dillane, Shauna Hanafin and Jade Powell.Training continues on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7 pm to 8 pm<x-apple-data-detectors://39>
