THE John Mitchels Under 14 team who won the All-Ireland Féile title back in June were recognised for their exploits at the meeting of the Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council on Monday.

The team brought home the club’s first ever All-Ireland title from the competition in Galway back in the summer when they beat Kilkenny side, Dicksboro in the final of their category.

Cllr Pa Daly (SF) proposed that their achievement be recognised by the Council at a previous meeting.

“I’m a bit uncomfortable about this as a Narie,” joked Vice-Chairperson of Tralee Municipal District, Cllr Terry O’Brien (Lab), before a special presentation was made. “It’s important to recognise this achievement. The John Mitchels Club is growing again and excelling,” he said.

Former councillor and Mitchels club stalwart, Ted Fitzgerald accepted the award with a team member and coaches.
