KERRY College of Further Education played their first ever Higher Education Gaelic Football league semi-final against Dundalk IT in Portlaoise yesterday.

Despite putting in a tremendous performance, the side were beaten after a last minute goal scuppered their hopes. The Clash-based side, coached by Jack O’Connor, led at half time by 1-8 to 1-7 and were still leading by two points with time almost up, when the Louth side struck to leave a final score of Dundalk IT 2-14 to KCFE 1-15.

James Duggan had a great game and finished with 1-9 while other standout performers were captain Kieran O Donoghue of Cordal, Kieran O Connor, Joe Looby Lugandu, Brandon Patterson, Colin Sheehy, Jordan Brick and Cian Holden.

KCFE were in unchartered waters in the competition, so have to be commended for their run. They can now look forward to the championship with confidence.
