Credit Union Co League
The Co League resumes next weekend and Round 7 sees both of our senior sides in action. The Senior A panel are joint top of the table, but share that distinction with six other clubs, all of which have eight points from the first six games.
O’Rahillys now move on to a shootout with fellow table toppers An Ghaeltacht in Gallarus on Saturday evening next, June 29th, with a 7.30pm throw-in.
The West Kerry side has led the league table from the start, reeling off four consecutive victories, but have come unstuck in their last two games and will be anxious to get back to winning ways.
Despite the absence of several key players of late, Strand Road have shown plenty of resilience and a strong second half performance last time out versus Templenoe should bolster the confidence of this young side.
Gary Kissane will probably start in goals, with Sean Collins and Darragh McElligott assisting Ross O’Callaghan in a defence which should see Ryan Carroll return alongside Cormac Coffey and Shane Brosnan.
Con Barrett and Tom Hoare were impressive at midfield against Templenoe, while Barry John Keane will be expected to spearhead the attack with assistance from Paidi Griffin and promising youngster, Conor Hayes. Our Senior B team had an impressive win over Dr Crokes in the last round of matches and currently sit joint fifth in the table with their next opponents, Ballyduff.
It won’t be easy though as we must travel to the North Kerry venue, with the game scheduled to throw-in at 2pm on Sunday next.
Our hosts, the current county Junior champions, will surely see home advantage as an opportunity to climb the table. As always, the availability of players will be crucial to O’Rahillys. Rob O’Connor was superb in goals versus Crokes.
The defence will look to Jason O’Leary and Tom McGrath for leadership, with Kieran Mangan, Barry Foley and Cillian Gallagher providing valuable support.
Rory Molloy should drive the team from midfield and Donagh O’Brien will be looking to continue his good form in an attack which should be led by Johnny Keane with support from Brian Scannell, Gearóid Hartnett, Kevin Johnson-Horgan and young Darragh Fitzgerald. Juvenile Academy
A great turnout on Sunday morning for a miserable June day. The rain didn’t stop our enthusiastic girls and boys from training. Moms, Dads and grandparents were delighted with their refreshments to heat themselves up. Thanks again to everyone for bringing the children down and to everyone who is helping out on Sundays between baking, coaching, making teas, coffees etc. There’s great community spirit in our club.

The juvenile kits and gear should be here by July 5th.Texts will be sent to everyone and we will arrange a time in the club for everyone to collect their gear.
U8 GIRLS
Last Wednesday evening we welcomed Churchill, Na Gaeil, Mitchels and Stacks to Ballyrickard for Go Games. It was great again to see the girls enjoying the fun and thank you to the parents who brought their daughters along. We are looking forward to more away Go Games with the other clubs now.
U10 BOYS
Training continues in Ballyrickard on Tuesdays and Thursdays. New members always welcome.
STREET LEAGUES
The summer holidays are nearly upon us and after a week or so we will all be hearing “I’m bored, I have nothing to do”. Plenty of long evenings for playing football lads! If you already play or even if you don’t play we will be organising “Street Leagues “ over the next few weeks. Tell your friends that these are coming up. We will have a final with medal presentation at the end of it. Something to look forward to for everyone in our community!
U12 BOYS
Our under 12s signed off the county league in style with a 5-13 to 3-7 victory over Foilmore on Sunday afternoonin Ballyrickard. Foilmore started stronger and took a 2-2 to 1 point lead in the first 10 minutes.
We started to settle with Oisín Cronin taking command of midfield with our opening point and goal. Brayden Pierce and Oisín started to drive forward from midfield and created an opening for Nick Lacey to sweep a lovely crossfield ball to Odhran Foley who finished from a tight angle.
Cillian McGrath came in to shore up our defence but with a few minutes to go we lost Brayden Pierce to a nasty collision. Foilmore recovered and added a few points to retake the lead but Nick Lacey rattled off 4 points at the end of the half to leave 1 between the sides at half time.
We came out fighting in the second half with Nick leading the charge, scoring another 3 points.
Ryan Onyekwere, again working so hard, got his reward with a goal before Odhran Foley scored his 2nd and 3rd goals in quick succession.
In control now, Ryan and Oisín added scores and Nick raised the white flag twice to take his tally to 9 points with 8 from play. Credit to Brayden Pierce who returned in the second half to limit the threat of an excellent Foilmore midfielder.
As Foilmore rallied, Evan Daly was superb in goals, handling everything well and restarting with confidence. Although Foilmore would eventually get a goal, Daniel Aneke and Conor Cronin would limit them to 1-2 in the entire second half.
This was a great team performance especially considering the absence of Rory and Jamie. We had leaders all over the pitch. Some great performances were topped by Nick Lacey with a 9-point haul winning the man of the match.
U16 BOYS
We played Annauscaul / Lispole in the first round of the County League on Wednesday evening. After two previous defeats to the same opponents in the Central League we got the upper hand on this occasion.
With both teams missing some players the game was played 13 aside. We got off to a flying start, hitting the net on three occasions in quick succession from the boots of Darragh O Connor, Seán Healy and Sam McCarthy to leave the score 3-1 to 1 point after 15 minutes.
A positive point of this half was the return of Seán Healy to his old self with some powerful runs. Further goals from Ben Hanafin and a second of the half for Darragh O Connor saw the half time score 5-02 to 6 points.
The second half saw Darragh O Connor complete a ‘man of the match’ display with a third goal bringing his tally to 3-5 on a night where all our backs impressed while being well assisted by Ben O’ Brien and Thomas Maguire giving a solid display in goals.
Up front, Darragh O Connor was the chief contributor with Seán Healy and Sam McCarthy also proving a handful for their opponents and with Danny Hennessy popping up from midfield to contribute 3 points to the cause.

FAMILY FUN DAY
We have pencilled in Sunday, July 7th for our annual Family Fun Day. Keep this day free as we will have plenty of kids activities, fun and entertainment for adults too. This event is open to everyone in our community. Keep an eye on our notes for more information next week.

STREET LEAGUES
Over the next few weeks we will be organising ‘Street Leagues ‘ for the girls in our community. So no excuses about being bored during your long summer holidays….. Everyone welcome! Plenty of fun girls and we will have a final and medal presentation at the end.
U12 GIRLS
Co. League Final
Our girls gave an outstanding performance in Currans on Tuesday last to win their Co. League final. Cheered on by a huge and vocal support, the girls played their hearts out on the wide-open pitch. Though we had named our 15 starters, Dingle could only muster 13 players and therefore we had to go 13–A- SIDE.
The setting sun provided a picturesque background as the girls played with the sun to their backs in the first half.
It was nip and tuck for the first 10 minutes with a point from Ciara Gallagher followed by a further point from a free by Fiadh McCarthy. The outstanding Kelly Fitzgerald banged in 2 excellent goals giving us a half time lead of 2-02 to O-04.
In the second half Dingle threw everything at us but goalkeeper Millie and all six backs Mia, Farah, Donna, Saoirse, Sophie and Taylor stood up to the challenge. Fiadh added two more points and Aoibheann McCarthy cracked in a great goal.
Sara at midfield plus our other forwards Córa, Aoife, Megan, Taylor Kate and Caragh caused Dingle lots of trouble. When Leila, Aoibhne and Kelly Hayes were introduced, they helped secure a famous victory.
Final score- Kerins O’Rahillys 3-06 to Dingle 1-06.
Kelly Fitz accepted the trophy and gave a super speech. Many thanks to Michelle, Pádraig and Rory. There were great celebrations on the road back to Strand Road.
Training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays in preparation for the North Kerry plate final v Duagh. More details to follow.
Well done to Kelly Fitzgerald who played at half time of The Munster Final in the Kerry Primary School Games team. As always some outstanding kick outs from Kelly.
U14 GIRLS
Training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays in preparation for The Sandra Keane Tournament on July 20th and the U13 and U15 Championship.
U16 GIRLS
Training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays in preparation for U15 and U17 Championship.
SENIOR LADIES
Our numbers are still increasing thanks to the girls bringing friends along to join in. A big thank you to Erris for her commitment and patience in rounding up our ladies.
The ladies should have played Beale/ Ballyduff in the Co. League but unfortunately they cancelled the game on Sunday evening. Our disappointed ladies were so looking forward to a game. We are away to Annascaul next Sunday – more details to follow.
CAKE SALE
On Sunday, July 7th we will have a cake sale in Strand Road. This is one of our fundraisers for the year. So far we have been able to get 2 new sets of jerseys but could do with more. We also will be bag packing later in the summer to raise funds for our day out. All help greatly appreciated please.
Congrats to our girls and boys who competed in the Community Games and many thanks to the ladies in Blennerville / Ballyard Community Games for all their hard work as always in organising everything.
Congrats also to our girls and boys who have graduated or are graduating from 6th class.
