ACADAMH NA nÓG
Last Sunday we welcomed  Na Gaeil U8 and U10 Girls and U8 Boys to Ballyrickard. It was great to see our players playing a game against another team in a friendly and fun manner while also ensuring all guidelines were followed . All children played fantastically and put all the skills from the past number of weeks into their games. As always our coaches were very proud of each and every player.  Well done to everyone! Thank you to Na Gaeil for their visit. We look forward to plenty more games with you in the future.
Congrats to those of you who made their First Holy Communion over the last few weeks.

U16 GIRLS

Kerins O’ Rahilly’s U16 Girls after round 4 of the Co. League v Legion last Wednesday in Ballyrickard.

Front ( left to right) Lily O’ Brien, Kelly Fitzgerald, Millie Hayes, Ava Ward, Lauren Doody, Nathali Mulumba.

It was a strange encounter in Ballyrickard on Wednesday last when our U16s welcomed Legion to an empty grounds due to the current Covid restrictions.

Come the interval, Strand Road led by 3-10 to 1-04 limiting Legion to just a single point from play.

Kelly Fitzgerald opened the scoring after 62 seconds following a fine pass by Aoibhín O’ Connor MacCarthy . Aoibhín  was next to score moments later before dominant wing forward Kate Kerins opened her account in the first 10 minutes.

Legion opened their account through a free from 13 metres out in the 11th-ish minute and for an all-too brief window, the challengers rallied with frees to trail by a few going in to the first waterbreak.

Whatever hopes of a meaningful contest in the first half developing were put to pasture in the 22nd minute after Legion receiving a sin bin.

While Legion never threw in the towel, the gulf between the sides was undeniable. During the second half, Kerins O’ Rahillys kept the scoreboard ticking over, adding 1-05 to their tally while the challengers would end the afternoon with just 1-02 from play.

The second half was a better battle between the 2 sides. Kerins O’ Rahillys gave away 2 soft penalties that were converted beautifully by Legions wing forward.

Final score 4-15 to 4-08.

Kerins O’ Rahillys share the top of the table spot with Moyvane, both having 8 points out of a possible 10. We welcome MKL Gaels on Wednesday at 7p.m. in Ballyrickard.

Juvenile Boys

Under 12 Boys
We continued our county league campaign away in Annuascal, where we played Annausacul / Lispole. We started brightly and were in controll thanks to goals from Nick Lacey and Ryan Onyekwere. The opposition began to get a grip on midfield soon after and reeled offa number of good scores to leave the sides level at the first water break. Unfortunately we could not get going upon resumption of the game and failed to score for the remainder of the half with our opposition adding 3 goals and 5 points to leave us well behind at half time, the work rate and effort never dropped in the first half where we were lead by the excellent Ryan Onyekwere in the middle of the park.
As with the first half we began the second half brightly and reduced the gap through Ruairi Kennedy and Nick Lacey, and were the better team in the third quarter. Heading into the final period we once again struggled to create scores and Annausacul/Lispole reeled off a number of excellent scores to run out deserved winners.
