Conor O Shea and his cousins Cian & Fionan O’Brien enjoying the Kerins O Rahillys Family Fun Day on Sunday.

ACADAMH NA nÓG

What a great way to wrap up our end of year …a Family Fun Day for our club and community.

What a fantastic day we all had … great weather, scrumptious food and the best of company . We were so overwhelmed by the Community Spirit shown. It was lovely to meet so many of our community and apologies if we didn’t get to say hello to everyone…we will meet again!

Massive thanks to EVERYONE that helped in making this day such a success. Our volunteers did some outstanding work.

It was a challenge at the start of the day alright when the football dartboard was a major distraction in getting the girls and boys past it on their way to their fun event stations…sure no harm in it as it was their day…

Our girls and boys played several games on the Field of Dreams, our main pitch in Strand Road. The street leagues were a great success as were the old fashioned fun games.
We had jigsaw play mats, skipping ropes, hula hoops and much more for our younger children.

.

Our tastebuds were satisfied at Eddie’s barbecue stand with his tasty hot dogs and burgers … you’ll be called upon again Eddie…those looking for something lighter enjoyed a tea / coffee and scrumptious cakes at our coffee dock.

Many thanks to Paula who brightened up our girls and boys even more with her amazing artistic face painting skills.

There was some queue from start to finish and we had lots of tigers running wild in Strand Road last Sunday afternoon .. Thank you also to the kind lady who volunteered to assist Paula.

As always Treasa never leaves us down. Indoors,  we had her wonderful magic show, puppet show and Treasa finished the afternoon with amazing balloon models.

Each child was so enthralled with her show, many had never seen anything like this before… there wasn’t a sound out of them and they watching! Thank you Treasa!

We had a few very disappointed coaches who never got to partake in ‘Sponge the Coach,’ how will they cope !! There was too much going on elsewhere for the girls and boys, a great complaint.

We were delighted to meet Lily Sebestova who is an inspiration to all…. still a beautiful bubbly young lady.

We met Mrs. Sweeney from our community on her daily walk around the grounds. She joined us for a  coffee , bun and a chat . This is what community is all about for us.

Sunday, October 10th was Mental Health Day 2021. We hosted our ‘Family Fun Day’ in collaboration  with the ‘Kerry Mental Health & Wellbeing Fest’ ….something that is so important for everyone.
Don’t ever be afraid to reach out to someone if you’re finding things tough .It’s great to have someone listen who perhaps may not know the ‘right ‘ thing to say but may know someone who does.
Thanks also to Caoimhe in Jigsaw for her help .

We couldn’t have asked for a better  day last Sunday,  last day of Acadamh Na nÓG for 2021….fantastic sunshine , terrific community spirit and a great community get together ! There was a hive of activity in our main grounds all afternoon….. wonderful!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon and word has it that a jolly man in his red coat is making plans for a Strand Road visit in the near future…
