Juvenile News

U6s
Despite a heavy shower of rain just before training started on Saturday morning numbers were still great and great fun was had by all. We have been invited to play St Pats next Sunday morning so we will train as normal on Saturday and then we are asking parents to drop the kids back to Blennerville on Sunday morning.

We want all players to be there for about 10.45. You will also receive a text during the week to confirm all the details. So hoping to see everyone in Ballyrickard on Saturday morning to get plenty of practise in for Sunday morning.

U8s
The boys under the watchful eye of Richard, Ed and Rob put in a great training session on Saturday morning last. It is great to see so many of the players improving week after week and to see their confidence growing.

The u8 boys are also invited to play St Pats on Sunday morning so like the u6s we ask parents to drop the boys to Blennerville at 10.45. The boys will still have training on Saturday at 11. A reminder text will go out during the week.

U10s
The u10s are off to Mallow on Saturday morning to play in the u10 Munster Blitz. Registration for this blitz is at 9.30 so the bus will be leaving the main club at 7.45am.

It is expected to finish around 12 noon. We would ask all players to bring a light snack and ye will also be treated to lunch on the way home. As we have a large number of u10s we will need some parents to travel on the bus to help out the mentors. You will receive a text during the week with further details.

U8 & U10 Girls
Dan and Cliff put the girls through their paces on Saturday morning. They had a good turnout for training, though there was a lot of rain this didn’t deter the girls and they had a series of games.

Girls to impress were Rachel Foley, Lauren Doody, Aoibhinn O’Connor McCarthy, Kelly Fitzgerald, Fiadh Mc Carthy, Ava Dillon Millie Hayes, Taylor Leane, Ella O Connor, Farah Leahy, Jessica Lynch, Donna O Regan, Taylor Stack, and Katie Higgins. The football being played was excellent and the girls are really enjoying their training sessions at the minute. We are hoping to organise a challenge match for the girls very soon.

U14s
The boys played Austin Stacks on the 3rd round of the Town League on Thursday evening in Strand Rd and came away very comfortable winners in the end and left them with maximum points in the League.

This placed them in the final, playing John Mitchels for the second time in a few weeks. That game took place on Sunday in Caherslee pitch at 11am. A great crowd came along the support the boys and it was played under excellent conditions with the sun beating down. Mitchels got off to the stronger start clocking up 1-1 until Conor O’Sullivan opened our scoring with a point.

Shortly after that Conor got a goal and the boys started to settle well into the game. Stephen Nix and Jerome Daly were both having a great day in defence. Darragh O’Sullivan was having one of his finest games until an injury eventually forced him off.

Odhran Cronin made life very difficult for the Mitchels forwards and the ever hard working Sean Murphy and the reliable Ben O’Brien left very little pass them by.

Liam Magee had a fine day in goals pulling off a great save from a penalty. T.J. Mc Mahon put in a great display of high fielding and Conor O’Sullivan was ever reliable not just in mid field but all over the pitch, doing unbelievable covering and finishing the game with 1-2 from play and took a great penalty when Sam Mc Carthy was pulled down in the square leaving his tally at 2-2.

Gavin Burrows worked tirelessly up and down the field all day and scored a lovely point. Graham O’Carroll and Mark Roche were a torn in Mitchels defence all day and both finished the game with one point each.

Jack Savage did very well throughout the game and set up some great scores. Daniel Bowler and Sam Mc Carthy put in fine performances all through the game. Sam finished with 1-1 and Daniel finishing with an impressive 2-2.

Substitute James O’Halloran came on in the second half and when the game was in the melting pot he scored a great goal which allowed us some breathing space. Other subs to come on were Ben Hanafin who did really well and showed just how courageous he is, Darragh O’Connor who was very unlucky not to get a goal towards the end and Alan O’Connor who did a great job defending when he was really needed.

In the end we won the game by 3 points on a final score line of Kerins O Rahillys 6-09 to John Mitchels 4-12. It was a game that was played in great spirit and while we had played the better football and at one stage in the second half we were up 9 points Mitchels really put it up to us and clawed it back to just 3 points.

A massive thank you goes out to Mazie, Mark Fitzgerald and J.T. O’Sullivan for the amount of time and dedication they have put into this team and I know everyone of the players have the utmost respect for them.

U16
4 of our u16 players have been involved with the Tralee District team over the last number of weeks and on Sunday they played in the Plate Final of the u16 County District Championship in Farranfore against East Kerry.

Despite being down 8 points at half time they really turned it around in the second have and ran out winners in the end by 4 points. Ben Foley, Darragh Fitzgerald and Conor Hayes put in some fine performances and very much contributed to the win. Aidan Mangan was also part of the team but wasn’t with them today as his grandmother passed away. Everybody at the juvenile club wish to pass on our sympathies to Aidan and the Mangan family.
