NÓTAÍ NA mBAN
Next Sunday, October 10th we will have a Family Fun Day for our club  and our wider community .
Sunday, also is World Mental Health Day and we will be hosting this event as part of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Fest .Our aim always is to promote positive wellbeing both physically and mentally, in our wonderful family orientated club.
We also will have a talk for our adolescents on the positive  role of physical activity and sport in mental health. We were very fortunate in the past to have had workshops and talks pre Covid with the amazing Dr. Susan Lawlor and her late brother Dr. Martin Lawlor. We also hold the Pieta Amber Flag which recognises our efforts to create a healthy, inclusive environment that supports mental well-being.
Plenty of fun to be had on the day for families including street leagues up to and including U12s ladies.

We strive to ensure all of our girls have fun, are included and are encouraged to participate. Success for us is not measured in silver ware but in how many girls come back the following year. We thank all those who come to games and support our girls and we always like to encourage a positive attitude on the sideline by coaches and supporters.

Sunday will be an apt way to draw the season to a close for our teams who have just finished or are nearly finished their games. This also will be a great social event where we will all come together.  Covid guidelines will be adhered to during the day.

Kerins O’Rahilly Team
On Thursday evening last our Kerins O’ Rahilly’s U12 team descended on Ballyrickard juvenile pitch for their encounter with our neighbours Austin Stacks in The Town League. The game unavoidably got off to a late start but we were fortunate even with the rain to have enough light to the final whistle.
Credit must go to both teams and spectators for braving the elements in the torrential downpours.
Well done young ladies.
Many thanks to Niall Lucey for helping out on the night and best of luck to you in the final.

Juvenile Notes
All of our juvenile academy returned to training last Sunday after a few age groups had last week off because of the terrible weather. A massive turn out and effort from everyone , plenty of heart and character as always! A warm welcome to Kayla,  Nathan, Zac, Matthew and Isaac.
A massive thank you to all of our volunteers and parents … without you the success of our club would not happen. Strand Road is very much a family club. We strive to strengthen the community spirit.
Our doors are always open to the wider community. We believe in inclusion which means people having a sense of belonging, of being comfortable in being part of something they value. We believe in equality and diversity.. being aware of, accommodating, and celebrating differences.
The GAA motto, ‘Where we all Belong’ comes to mind when we think of our club. The things we do together to help each other bind us and nurture our community!

Roll on our ‘Family Fun Day’ next Sunday, October 10th where everyone in our community is welcome as always!  Stay close to our social media platforms for more  information .

Another great morning for our youngest gents in our club last Sunday morning who were spread across the Clogher Failí side of the main pitch in Pat Healy Park, Ballyrickard learning skills while having a wonderful session as always with their wonderful coaches.
Great to see so many new boys join in again this week. Can’t wait to see everyone again next Sunday. New players always welcome!
Last week’s ‘Players of the Week’ were Logan Long .. always a warm smile by this young man and word has it that he has his own personal trainer in his Grandad Gerard Moran, a staunch club man.
Brody Clifford, wasn’t feeling the best but still managed to pull off a ‘ Player of the Week’ medal, another star in the making definitely!
Noah O’ Sullivan was only delighted with himself as were Mom and Dad. Dad has played football with us in his youth. Congrats!
Finn Healy… two ‘Players of the Week’ from the one family as Finn’s sister Amelia also received her medal… no arguing in that house today!
Harry Arthur , always a friendly smile and great attitude. Well done to Harry!
Daithí Carey…enjoying his football more and more every week and plenty of supporters on the sideline.
Odhran Kissane , a great young man who is looking forward to following in his Dad’s footsteps and playing senior football with Strand Road.
Nathan O’ Sullivan , a newcomer a few weeks ago and really getting into it … enjoying his football. Well done Nathan.

U6 GIRLS
Another amazing morning down at training last Sunday with this lively, cheerful bunch of girls having fun, learning new skills and making new friends. There was great excitement as Kimberly Horan gave Coach Aisling McLoughlin (who also is a very bubbly young lady herself ) a “Happy Birthday “ rosette to wear. The girls then sang for Aisling and all enjoyed cake.
Well done to all of our coaches Roy, who tried to tell everyone that he was in his 20s still…Aisling, the birthday girl, Anú and Lauren.
Our first ‘ Player of the Week’ called out last Sunday was Róisín Murphy…well if you only saw the smile on her face with pride… Well done Róisín who also plays a lot of football in the house we’ve heard !!!
Brogan Brosnan, a timid young lady was only delighted when her coach Roy took her by surprise and presented  her with her medal ..well done for receiving your ‘Player of the Week.’
Caragh McCarthy with her bashful smile which she couldn’t hide was thrilled with her ‘Player of the Week’ medal. Congrats to Caragh who is going to follow in her big brother Evan’s footsteps donning the blue and white.
Kayla O’ Sullivan, a new happy young lady who is already getting into the swing of football. Congrats Kayla!
Amelia Healy jumped for  joy when she was presented with her ‘Player of the Week’ award… fierce excitement altogether in Ballyrickard!

U7 BOYS
What an amazing year these lads are having… a full attendance nearly every week for what one can only describe as top class coaching with interesting drills always. We are immensely proud to have a great attendance always and top quality coaches too. A big thanks goes out to all parents, too for bringing your wonderful sons to training… without you the success of our juvenile academy could  not happen.
Happy gents last Sunday who received their ‘Player of the Week’ medals were Seán Kelliher, who loves the social aspect of Sunday mornings which is also so important. Seán who is a great mixer was over the moon to receive his medal and wore it with pride. Alan O’ Regan , always in mighty form was buzzing when his name was called. Well done to you Alan! Another well deserved ‘Player of the Week’ was Michael McCarthy… a gent always and he had his young brother Joey watching his training session also. Patrick Hobbert, an athletic young man who can’t wait for training on Sundays and Go Games also received the great honour of being named a ‘Player of the Week.’ Our other starring ‘ Players of the Week’ were Piotr Lange who only started playing a few months ago and is a brilliant player ..Charlie O’ Connor, an U5 who was called up to U7s for his great skills, Seán Óg O’ Keeffe, a great performer on and off the pitch… it made his day,  Conor Lyons… a real people person and enjoys his Sundays, Tadhg Heaphy , one of the Cluain Ard crew who always have a ball in their hands, Calum O’ Halloran whose Dad and uncles before him had many a happy day too training and playing for the Blues, Daniel Casey who just eats, drinks and sleeps his football and it shows and young Fionán O’ Brien who is only 3 years old but deservedly has to be acknowledged for training with his brothers Cian and Ben and Dad Ger every week. A name also to watch in the future with plenty of football in his blood from both Mom and Dad’s sides..
Many thanks to Tommy Walsh and David Moran for presenting our wonderful lads their medals .

U8 GIRLS

Kerins O’ Rahilly’s U8 Girls full of energy after their training in Ballyrickard last Sunday

Great to see so many girls at training again last Sunday morning. Since we started each one of these girls have missed hardly no training session  which shows fantastic commitment and interest. Our brilliant coaches always have different drill s set out for the girls each week and ready to go as soon as they arrive this week was no different. We are lucky that we have three coaches involved in this age group meaning they can be divided into three smaller groups and work on different skills and drills at each station set out on the pitch followed by a game at the end of each training session which is the highlight for the girls. Well done to all the girls Ye are a fabulous group of girls who are becoming great footballers. Huge thanks to two of our older girls from the club Holly and Keelin who are helping out and have been a great help to the coaches, thank you both for your time the girls love having ye there too. This weeks “Players of the Week” were Ella, Orla, Sophia, Eva, Arabella and Ardemonte each one of these girls turn up with smiles on their faces and take everything their coaches say on board. They have all shown huge improvement and great control over the ball when playing. Well done girls. We look forward to seeing you all next week.

U9 BOYS

The winning ‘Armagh’ U9 mini All Ireland’s team in Kerins O’ Rahilly who each were presented with a football. Congrats to all!

Busy morning full of enjoyment for these lads last week. Their coaches divided them into teams . After a series of round robin games Cork met Kildare in the National League Final  and Armagh played Donegal in the All Ireland Final.

Kerins O’ Rahilly’s U9s ‘Kildare’ All Ireland team who had great fun during mini All Irelands in Ballyrickard last Sunday

Great display of football from all 4 teams. In the All Ireland final Northern teams, Donegal and Armagh played an entertaining game with a nail biting finish when in the final minute Armagh’s Adam Quill palmed to the net just after a fantastic save on the other end by Julian Zytka.

Kerins O’ Rahilly’s ‘Cork’ Boys in the U9 mini All Irelands last Sunday with their coach Declan Quill

Well done to everyone… great up and coming footballers are all of these U9s.
The highlight of the morning was the arrival of our senior and County players David Moran and Tommy Walsh who themselves had just finished their training to chat with the boys and present the winning side with a football each.

Our ‘Donegal’ U9 Kerins O’ Rahilly team who were beaten by a last minute goal in the mini All Irelands last Sunday. Exciting game …

A shout out to Tommy, David and coaches Declan Quill, Declan Smith, Ken O’ Keeffe and Dylan Moriarty who are just awesome. Before the presentation Tommy and David praised and gave these lads great encouragement. Declan Quill, U9 manager then put everyone’s name into a hat and five lucky names were drawn. And if that wasn’t enough… Declan Quill told the boys about their day out next Saturday afternoon. Enjoy…We’re sure everyone will!
