Senior County League Division 1 Rd 2

Kerins O Rahillys 0-08 Dingle 1-16

The senior team hosted Dingle on Saturday evening last in Caherina. Again short a good number of regulars . However it was an opportunity to give a number of panelist’s a run out in the senior colours for the first time.

Gearoid Savage opened the scoring from a close in free after three minutes , alas this was to be our only score for a considerable length of time with Dingle completely dominating possession and scoring a goal and eight points without reply.

Conor Hayes kicked our second point in the twenty third minute and a pointed free from Gearoid Savage five minutes later would be our last score of the half , leaving us trailing 1-10 to -03 at the break.

The second half introduction of Gavin O Brien made an immediate impact when he made a surging run and kick a good score from thirty five yards out on the right.

While we never gave up, the gap between the side was too great, and the visitors were well in control throughout, converting their chances with greater ease.

The increased their lead as the second half progressed. We then pushed Gavin O Brien to the edge of the square , where he gathered a long ball and neatly converted for the blues fifth point.

Darragh McElligott kicked a point minutes later after a fine run from Cormac Coffey.
Both sides then traded minor scores with our last two points coming form a Gearoid Savage free and Conor Hayes from play.

Dingle were to win out and were worthy winners, this was a fixture that was always going to be difficult considering the amount of regulars unavailable to us.

However the positives are that we were able to give competitive debuts to a number of young panelist’s which will be of benefit going forward, Stephen Nix, Ben Hanafin and Danny Hennessey among them.

Team: S Foley,S Nix,P Neenan,C Coffey,S Collins,D McElligott,J Daly,S Walsh,T Hoare,G Savage(3f)S McElligott (1),B Hanafin,D Bowler,D Hennessey,C Hayes (2).
Subs Used: Gavin O’Brien(2) Shane Brosnan,Conor O Sullivan.

Division 6A County League
Kerins O Rahillys B 1-09.  Tousist 1-14
As a consequence of our senior team being depleted , this had a knock on effect on the second team. Despite this we fought admirably against a stronger Tousist team.

Proud out to meet her hero Jack Savage in Croke Park is Kerins O’ Rahilly’s Erin Lynch.

The Good News is We Still Have Room for more . Why not give it a go and be part of a fantastic, family oriented club. We are a ‘one club’  model and cater for girls from U6s up to senior.

GAELIC4GIRLS
G4G gives girls an excellent introduction to ladies football with the hope that they will continue to play and remain involved in sport and our club.

It’s also a fantastic way to have fun with your friends and also make new friends. One reason for encouraging girls to play sport is the health benefits but there is so much more…. one can’t underestimate the social aspect, by playing sports they make new friends which is of great benefit to them especially when they move to secondary school.

A best friend may not be in the same class but you may know someone from football or have football in common with other girls in your class. And do girls love to chat …

Last Saturday we welcomed Alison and Stevie Rose .
Great fun was had by all …Kicking over bar,
Rounders , Obstacle course , 1v1/2v2 and the girls finished up with a game followed by a tasty treat.
Happy birthday to Abbey O’ Connor who will turn 11 during the week from all of us.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE

DIVISION 4

DUAGH v STRAND ROAD BLUES

Still beautiful smiles from the Strand Road Blues after their defeat in Rd. 1 of the North Kerry League v Duagh last Monday.

On Monday evening last , our Strand Road Blues were away to Duagh in the first round of the North Kerry league.

Muireann McCarthy  who also celebrated her birthday last weekend was captain . Strand Road wore their Blue and White jerseys with pride as they took their positions on the pitch. For some girls this was their debut U12 match.

We lost the toss so were playing with the sun in the goalie’s  eyes for the first half which proved a challenge. Duagh took the lead quite quickly using this to their advantage and scoring a goal early on. Ruby Foley’s  kick outs were high and long but Duagh’s tall girls gave us no hope of succeeding.

Our back line Sarah McGrath , Muireann McCarthy, Yvie Ross, Rachael Ahern and Emily Corridon tried hard to defend their goals but Duagh scored 4 more goals early in the first half.

The 5 goal rule then was activated so any goal after will be counted as a point. Ruby persevered and kicked a short ball to Yvie   who took her hop and solo and skillfully passed off to Rachael  Ahern who also showed her skills by kicking a high ball into midfielder Jessie Griffin…a short handpass to Ava O‘  Donoghue who sent  the ball over the bar which lead to our first score of the game .

Half Time Score :

Chloe Lacey with a  short hand-pass to Nicola Corridon who went onto score a point. The Strand Road girls did well to keep the ball down their end and a skillful pass by Ellie Marie Hobbert to Ava O’ Donoghue gained another point for Strand Road .

Strand Road midfielders Jessie and Hannah showed great teamwork keeping the ball down in the Strand Road side handpassing to one another up the pitch .

A short kick into Nicola  who quickly saw Ellie Marie was free ,  hand passed it off which lead to a great score by Ellie Marie.

Duagh soon got the ball back up their side and scored another point . Emily then kicked the ball out with a quick pass to her sister Nicola who took her hop and solo and passed off to Yvie  who sent a long ball into Ava O’ Donoghue who with a short hand pass to Katelynn O’ Brien who scored a super point.
