Snr Town Championship Semi-final Kerins O’Rahillys 0-16 John Mitchels 2-10

This game was played in Strand Road in what was the first real wintery day this year with some very heavy showers during the game. John Mitchels dominated the first half as a young Kerins O’Rahillys side were finding their feet so to speak. The sides went in with John Mitchels up 4 points at half time, Kerins O’Rahillys 0-02 to John Mitchels 0-06. We were more settled in the second half and solid performances from the likes of David McLoughlin and David Murphy kept us in the game. Cian Sayers too came into his own and we drew the game to go to extra time. Kerins O’Rahillys 0-11 John Mitchels 1-08. Extra time couldn’t separate the sides so the game will go to a replay. Game to be played Saturday 20th in The Mitchels field at 7pm.
Christmas Party
Our U8/10 and U12 Girls had their Christmas Party on Sunday last. It was a huge success with well over one hundred in attendance. U12 Manager Linda Gleeson welcomed and thanked everyone for coming and handed proceedings over to U8/10 Manager Marie Nix who along with her mentors Karen McLysacht and Rory Kerins presented the U8/10 with their Certificates of achievement, medals and training tops. U8 Player of the year was Aoibhín McCarthy, Most improved player was Rachel Foley and Team player was Kelly Fitzgerald. U10 Player of the year was Kate Kerins, Most improved player was Eadrea Hayes and Team player was Bronagh O’Carroll. Congratulations and well done to all. The U12 girls didn’t have an awards night because they will be getting their medals and awards at a ceremony later on but did get training tops. Everyone had refreshments and there was music and plenty novelty dance moves displayed by mentors. Special thanks to Hazel and Morgan Nix who sponsored goodie bags for everyone. All in all everyone had a great evening and look forward to the New Year.

We have arranged that two historians Ryle Dwyer and Pádraig O’Conchubhair will give a presentation on both of these men’s lives at our Club function rooms on Wednesday December 17th at 7.30pm. This promises to be a very interesting and informative evening. All interested parties, club members and otherwise are encouraged to attend. You are invited to this event by Club Chairman Frank O’Connor.
