Kerins O’Rahillys GAA Club News

Seniors: No competitive action this week end due to round 3 of the senior county championship giving us the chance to view prospective opponents in the quarter final.

Our round 8 of the county league vs Castleisland Desmonds due to be played next week end has been postponed at the request of the Desmonds club and will now take place at the end of August – next league action will see us travel west to Gallarus to take on An Ghaeltacht on Sat night 22nd July – more on this fixture next week.

County Championship: Following on from the week ends games, East Kerry, West Kerry, Kenmare Shamrocks and South Kerry advance – given that we have already played South Kerry we will face one of the other 3 teams when the draw for the quarter finals is made.

Minors: Our minors are in action this coming Tuesday night ( 11th July) in round 2 of the county minor championship ( away to West Kerry in Annascaul @ 19.30)  having being defeated last week by Laune Rangers in Strand Rd on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-09.

Though its of little consolation to the lads, the score line does not reflect how the game went as scores were level on a number of occasions and we were leading 1-09 to 0-11 after 20 minutes of the second half and only trailed by two points as the game entered the final minutes.

However, it was Laune Rangers who finished the strongest despite being reduced to 14 players and they were deserving winners.

Team: Thomas Houston, Deaglán Crowe, Aidan Mangan, Barry Foley, Rory O’Connor, Seán Collins, Seán Duggan, Seán Griffin, Kevin Browne, Quinn O’Halloran, Aaron Roche, Jordan Foley, Darragh Fitzgerald, Shane McElligott, Gearoid Dillane.

Strand Rd: Our juniors had a successful outing last Friday night 7th July when defeating Glenflesk in Glenflesk on a score line of 3-13 to 0-13. They now have only Dingle left to play in this competition ( an away game) and look set to qualify for the semi finals. They play St Pats this coming Monday night ( July 10th) at home in Coiste Trá Lí.

Junior Blues:
After a two week break we were back in action on Sunday morning last.

A big thank you to David Moran for visiting us this morning. There was great excitement as the children and parents awaited his arrival. David met with and had a chat with each age group. He then had photos taken with the children and signed autographs.
Unfortunately Barry John wasn’t able to make it this morning but will come another morning to visit the Juvenile Academy.

Thank you to the parents who brought goodies for the baking roster. There was a fine spread there this morning.

Thanks to the coaches for their hard work and time and to the parents and grandparents for bringing the children to training.

Central League – U-14 Boys: Our U-14s travelled to Churchill on Monday night last to take on the locals in the Central League Division 2. With one point from a possible 4 this was a must win game and they duly did the business on the night with an 11 point victory, 5-16 to 4-08. This was a game performance against a physically stronger side and the lads can be proud of their efforts. They now take on Milltown – Castlemaine this coming Monday night in round 4 with a home game to follow next week when An Ghaeltacht are the visitors to Strand Rd.
