Seniors: Just like the recent county championship game vs South Kerry , a blistering start to the second half was the deciding factor in this game when in a purple patch from the 7th to the 14th minute we hit St Marys for 1-05 without reply effectively putting the game beyond their reach.

John Keane kick started the blitz and further rapid points from John Ferguson, Jason O’Leary raiding from defence, Shane Brosnan and the outstanding Con Barrett saw us increase our lead to 8 points ( 1-13 to 0-08) and worse was to follow for the home side when Tom Hoare ( outstanding all through) was on the end of a passing move to finish low to the net, the much sought after points were on the way to Strand Road.

We were quickest out of the blocks and had the opening score on 40 seconds when Tom Hoare, operating at full forward rounded his marker to finish low to the net for the perfect start – Tom quickly added another point and was to prove a thorn in the St Marys side throughout the game finishing on a personal tally of 2-03.

We had the upper hand at midfield where Con Barrett was outstanding all night, fielding cleanly, carrying to great effect and working back when needed. Con was ably assisted by Ryan Carroll and in defence Danny O’Sullivan, Jason O’Leary and Tommy Begley kept a tight rein on their men offering the opposition little opportunities to threaten our goal – when they did,Gary Kissane was equal to the task and made some fine stops in the 17th & 20th minutes to keep a clean sheet. As half time approached we were 3 points to the good, 1-07 to 0-07 and though facing the breeze in the second half there was enough to suggest that we would prevail on the night.

The resumption saw both sides trading points before the blitzkrieg which ended this game as a contest in the first quarter – we led 2-14 to 0-10 after 16 minutes and though conceding two late goals we ran out deserving winners on a final score line of 2-16 to 2-12.

Everyone played their part in securing this win but special mention to Con Barrett, Tom Hoare, John Ferguson and Danny O’Sullivan who were all outstanding on the night.

Team: Gary Kissane, David Murphy, Shane Brosnan ( 0-01), Danny O’Sullivan, Jason O’Leary ( 0-01), Karl Mullins, Tommy Begley ) 0-01), Ryan Carroll, Con Barrett ( 0-01), Darragh McElligott, Padraig Griffin, Rory Molloy ( 0-01), John Keane ( 0-04), Tom Hoare ( 2-03), John Ferguson ( 0-02).

We wish David, Jack & Barry John all the best next week vs Mayo in the All Ireland semi finals – here’s hoping that they will be preparing for another final in Sept.

Juniors: Following on from our county league victory, attention now turns to Coiste Trá Lí league with the semi final down for decision on Friday  night next ( 18th) when we travel to Connolly Park to take on Stacks with throw in @ 19.30 – we have already overcome the same opposition but Stacks will be a different proposition in their own backyard and a great game is in prospect. Best of luck to Barry, Eugene, Ken, Liam and team involved.

Minors: We played Laune Rangers in the central league on Monday night last but similar to our county championship clash, we went down by 3 points, 2-17 to 2-14. Our next game in this competition sees us travel to Dingle on Monday 21st to play the locals.

Junior Blues: The Rose Cup will take place this coming week end ( Sat 19th) in conjunction with the Festival; 16 teams will take part, with matches being played in two venues, our own Healy Park and Na Gaeil with the action getting under way at 10.30 am.

The final is scheduled for Healy Park on Sat evening. We would like to wish Denis, Mark, Paul and the lads all the best in this competition.
