Strand Road: We played Dr Crokes in the semi final of the Molyneaux Cup on Friday night last ( 25th) in Strand Road and ended up on the wrong side of a 4 point deficit, 0-14 to 1-07.

This was a game where we enjoyed plenty of possession but found scores hard to come by. We trailed early on but following a couple of points from Gearoid Savage and John Keane, John then fired to the net to leave us two to the good, 1-02 to 0-03.

However, Crokes took over and from here to the interval, outscored us by 0-05 to 0-01, to lead 0-08 to 1-03 at half time.

We started the second half brightly but a succession of wides seemed to take the wind out of our sails and despite the best efforts of Jason O’Leary, Rory O’Connor & Gearoid Savage we failed to close the deficit and thus exit this championship.

Charlie Kerins: Fossa failed to field a team in the Cahill Cup on Friday night last and we now take on last years winners Skellig Rangers in the quarter finals this coming Friday night – fixture will be confirmed later in the week.

Kerry vs Mayo: A disappointing day in Croke Park saw Kerry depart the race for Sam Maguire for 2017 when a polished Mayo performance saw them run out 5 points winners; no joy for our trio of David, Barry John & Jack. who all gave of their best in a below par Kerry outing.

Seniors: The final round of the county league will take place this coming Sunday ( Sept 3rd) when we entertain Templenoe in Strand Road where throw in is @ 1.30 – though neither team is in the running for final placings and both have secured their division 1 status for 2018, this is an important game in terms of preparation for the forthcoming championship and a full blooded encounter is expected.

The fixtures for the quarter finals of the championship will be known this week  – in all likelihood we will be playing in a double header with Stacks/W est Kerry in Austin Stack Park on a date to be determined.

Junior Blues: Great commitment as always last Sunday at our Juvenile Academy from our players and coaches.

Hope that everyone continues working on their skills during the week.
Thanks to Na Gaeil for hosting our U8 and U10 girls. They enjoyed their trip away.
Best of luck to everyone who is starting school ( especially parents) during the week and to those who are  moving class.

Our U-14 boys faced John Mitchels on Weds night last ( 23rd) in Ballyseedy in Coiste Trá Lí league semi final; having beaten the same opposition just a few weeks previously we approached the game full of confidence and started brightly when playing with the aid of a stiff breeze.

Having raced into a two points to nil lead, we were pegged back by the Boherbuí boys who hit us on the break for 1-01 – though we had plenty of possession we failed to make it tell on the score board and each time Mitchels attacked they seemed to find the target – at half time we trailed by 8 points, 3-03 to 0-04 which was scarcely believable given the amount of chances we had squandered.

The second half was a different story and right from the off we began to eat into the lead with scores from Jack Savage, Ben Hanafin and a great long range effort from Jerome Daly. Then Ben O’Brien stormed through for a goal and when Seán Healy got our second goal we were one point to the good

From here to the finish we tacked on some fine scores most notably through Darragh O’Connor and Sam McCarthy and in an extraordinary turnaround finished up winning on a score line of 4-14 to 3-09.

Great credit is due to all the team for turning this game around – we now play Na Gaeil in the final on a date to be detemined.

U-16 Boys:  The Suits Select sponsored U-16 town league commences on 10th Sept when we play Ardfert @ home; we will have further games against Churchill, Austin Stacks & Na Gaeil – fixtures will appear on website and Facebook/Twitter.
