Seniors:
The large attendance in Austin Stack Park was no doubt swelled by the presence of wunderkind David Clifford but it was Tommy Walsh who lit up the game with a tour de force performance and a strong supporting cast through out the pitch.

We raced into a 3 points to nil lead despite playing into the wind and rain with scores from Jack Savage and two pointed frees from Barry John. East Kerry had their first score on the 6th minute but Tommy cancelled this out with a fine point of his own.

East Kerry defenders were under severe pressure due to the midfield dominance of the outstanding David Moran and the always willing Con Barrett; we created several goal chances but ill luck ( we were twice denied by the post), once when David placed his penalty to the left and later when John Ferguson hammered another shot off the post when the keeper was well beaten

We did have a fine goal from David on the 19th minute however, following some great play by Jack, Barry John and Tommy – we conceded a major shortly afterwards when exposed at the back, Jack Sherwood fired low to Gary’s left for a fine score.

From here to the half time whistle we tacked on another 3 points via John Ferguson, Gavin O’Brien and Barry John – at half time we led by 1-07 to 1-04 and East Kerry had to be wondering how they were not further behind.

Barry John pushed us further ahead after 2 minutes of the second half but it was Tommy’s goal on 6 minutes that settled the issue – a quick ball in from Barry John broke kindly and Tommy fired a volley past the static keeper – 2-08 to 1-05 now and when Gavin O’Brien found the net with a low drive following a lovely pass from Tommy two minutes later, we were home and hosed.

We saw out the game conceding only two points in the 35 minutes played, whilst adding another three to our tally through David, Jack & Barry John. This was a most satisfying win after our long lay off since the win over Dingle and we look forward with confidence to the semi finals.

Team: Gary Kissane, Danny O’Sullivan, Ross O’Callaghan, Tommy Begley, Ryan Carroll, Cormac Coffey, Karl Mullins, David Moran ( 1-01), Con Barrett, Padraig Griffin, Tommy Walsh (1-01), Gavin O’Brien ( 1-01), Jack Savage ( 0-02), Barry John Keane ( 0-06), John Ferguson ( 0-01) .

Subs: Cian Sayers, Tom Hoare, David Murphy, Gearoid Savage, Shane Brosnan & Rory Molloy.

Semi final draw saw us paired with old foes South Kerry with game to take place on Sat 7th October in a double header with Dr Crokes and West Kerry – more on this later.

Junior Blues:

Pride of place this week goes to our U-13 boys who won the Central league division 1 title on Sunday when beating Ardfert on a score line of 3-07 to 1-10. This was a tough uncompromising affair with the game in the balance right to the end – we trailed by one point at half time, 1-03 to 1-02 but raised our game markedly in the second half to take the spoils, – Darragh O’Connor with 2-01 and Jack Savage with the all important final goal were our marksmen but great credit is due to all players plus our mentors Denis, Mark & Paul in securing this win.

Saturday morning saw our u8 and u10 boys travel to John Mitchels for their  annual Juvenile Tournament –  this is their 17th year hosting this event .
The boys turned up in great spirits but the weather unfortunately wasnt on their side,  strong winds & rain didnt stop them playing their  4 games,  winning 2 well done to all the boys and not to forget our only girl Taylor Leane well done to all mentors for giving up their Saturday also a big thank you to John Mitchels for hosting this event .
