Mental fitness in Sport: As was mentioned in last weeks notes, an information evening for parents and mentors of our under age teams will be held in the Healy Room on Friday night 17th Nov in conjunction with State of Mind (www. stateofmindireland.com) with guest speakers Drs Martin & Susan Lawlor, two of its co founders.

State of Mind Ireland is a joint initiative between UCC, the HSE, Reach Out, All Island All Active, Shine and the Centre for Recovery and Social Inclusion.

Its aim is to improve the mental health, well-being and working life of sports players and sporting communities through out Ireland.

We are delighted to have partnered with State of Mind to bring a series of educational workshops to our members promoting resilience and positive mental health by adopting a strengths based approach.

We will be issuing invitations to all coaches and parents of our juvenile teams in the coming th weeks so ensure you keep the night of the 17th Nov free for should be a worthwhile and informative evening.

Admission is free, session will last for approx 90 minutes and there will be time allocated at the end for a Q & A session.

Junior Blues:

Halloween Party
On Sunday, there was a great atmosphere in  Charlie’s Bistro as over 100 children joined us for our Halloween party.

It started out with Treasa and her wonderful puppet show. The children dressed in their fancy dress sat quietly and watched in awe. This was followed by her magic show and sing along with the kids.

They all queued in an orderly fashion as they waited to see what balloon twister Treasa would make them. We had poodles and swords etc. and of course the boys couldn’t resist having sword fights.

In the meantime Paula had started face painting and again there was a huge queue wondering what they would ask Paula to paint on their faces.

Thanks to Danny our DJ who had just rushed back from a ladies U13 blitz to provide great music for the kids disco.

Everyone had a ball. The children had treats galore, party bags, balloons etc. Thanks to everyone for their help and support.

Thanks to the parents, grandparents and friends for bringing children. Today,we were honoured to host young members of our club and members  of our community. Thank you all so much!
