Kerins O Rahillys 2-11 An Ghaeltacht 0-07An Ghaeltacht were the visitors to Strand Road last Sunday for the Division 1 County League fixture.
Playing with the aid of a strong breeze the West Kerry side took and early lead with four unanswered points in the opening five minutes. Conor Hayes put us on the board with a point from play in the seventh minute. Both teams swapped points to make it 2-5 with Cormac Coffey the O Rahillys scorer. Gavin O Brien and Barry John Keane then added points to leave the minimum between the sides.
An Ghaeltacht went two up with two minutes of the half remaining.
The final score of the half came from a Barry John Keane free to leave the half time score 5-6. An Ghaeltacht would have been further ahead were it not for some poor shooting .
The second half saw an immediate improvement from the home side, with Tommy Walsh pointing after thirty seconds of the restart. A minute later second half replacement Gearoid Savage scored a goal, when  an attempt at a point from Gavin O Brien came back off the upright , and Savage was alert and finished from close in . The same player soon after converted two frees from twenty metres to put us five up, 1-8 to -06.

At this point we were dominating possession and went further ahead with two points from the boot of Barry John Keane , one a free. An Ghaeltacht then scored their only score of the second half and the scoreboard read 1-10 to -07.

The best move of the game rewarded the blues with their second goal. Sean Walsh fetched a great ball from the Ghaeltacht kick out , he found Tommy Walsh out on the right hand side who swiftly transferred to Ryan O Carroll, O’Carroll passed to Gearoid Savage and he in turn fed the in-running Padraig Neenan, who finished neatly for our second goal. The final score of the game came from a Barry John Walsh free to leave us comfortable winners.

Note. A minutes silence was observed before Sundays game to remember the late Tom Begley. Chairman Haulie Kerins spoke of the great work Tom did in the club down through the years and the huge loss he will be. It was fitting An Ghaeltacht were the opposition as Tom was a proud West Kerry man.

NÓTAÍ NA mBAN
For the second stage of our Lidl’s ‘ One Good Club’ programme we will ‘TAKE NOTICE’ …one of our five a day for emotional well being . Be sure to take notice of our surroundings while taking time to appreciate the sounds, sights, smells and tastes which form an important part of everyday living .

We all have mental health, some call it “well being”. Our mental well-being is an important contributor to our overall health  and it is every bit as important  as our physical health.
Being mentally healthy doesn’t just  mean that you don’t have a mental health problem…being in good mental health also means that you can cope with everyday life and partake in your community, workplace and family life….

GAELIC4GIRLS
We will have a club visit by an ambassador for the LGFA to come visit us  ( haven’t got the date yet for this ) and then the programme will be fully wrapped up for 2022.

Clubs are being offered the opportunity to order more G4G gear as some participants and coaches only joined the programme after the gear order went in… order now gone .

U14 GIRLS
A good start for us  in the first half of round 3 of the Co. League meant it was going to be a challenge for Laune Rangers  to catch up but come the second half the visiting team competed across all positions and proved to be a tough opposition in the end.
Our ladies are improving with each game  and can hold their heads up high at their constant battling performances and brilliant attitude. Well done to all of the girls on their win.
Final Score:
Kerins O’ Rahilly 5-07

And their coaches are very proud of each and every one of them.  Keep up the good work and don’t forget to practice as much as ye can during the week.

U13 Boys
Huge well done to our U13 Boys and their coaches on a well-deserved win over Knock/Brosna.  The boys travelled to Knock/Brosna for a County League game last Sunday at 1pm.  Each and every one of them played their socks off.  They showed great team work throughout the game working the ball up and down the pitch with great confidence.  Knock/Brosna also had a very strong side but our boys stayed level headed and listened to what their coaches were advising from the side-line.  The whole team put in a fantastic performance from start to finish with scores coming from Christian Dunne, Cayden Roche, Barry O’Sullivan and Cian Fitzgerald with the hard work and help of their team mates working the ball into them every time, who all deserve to be mentioned.  This team are showing great improvement and developing their skills more and more with every training session and game.  The winning team were Tyreek Lonergan, Cian Fitzgerald, Jamie O’Keeffe, Barry O’Sullivan, Sam Keane, George Keane, Ryan Nix, Mark Hassett, Kevin Horgan, Dara Cronin, Cayden Roche, Dylan Walsh, Ben Pierce, Conan Seino, Jayden Collins, Samuel Gallagher, Christian Dunne and Luca Fusco.
