Junior League Group 1 Final Strand Road 1-07 Rathmore 1-09

This game was played in Legions grounds in Killarney on Friday evening last. Strand Roads first score came after 4 minutes and was a well taken point by Mark Boysie O’Sullivan. Strand Roads discipline was relaxed and they gave away some frees which Rathmore capitalised on.

Seánie Walsh scored a fine goal on the 14th minute and it was looking good for Strand Road but Rathmore quickly came back with one of their own and despite points from Declan Quill and Boysie we went in at half time trailing by 4 points.

Strand Road 1-03. Strand Road came out the stronger side in the second half with Boysie scoring a point in the first minute. This was followed by two from Declan Quill and John Ferguson equalised in the 18th minute.

But it wasn’t to be with Rathmore tacking on two more points and a few decisions going against us. An audible gasp was heard from the Strand Road crowd in the final minute when we missed a goal and this was to be our last chance.

Rathmore came out winners on a final score of 1-09 to Strand Road’s 1-07. Thanks to Legion for having the pitch and all facilities in perfect condition for the final.
