Coaching and Development

With ever increasing playing numbers at all ages in the Club we are always anxious to ensure that every player is given the best possible coaching in the skills of the game.

We are extremely grateful for the hard work and commitment of our members who volunteer to coach and assist in any way with each team. As in previous years we are looking for new people to get involved. We have had a very productive 2015 and look forward to the same in 2016. This would not be possible without our volunteers.

Bearing this in mind and planning for the season ahead we would like to invite anyone who would be interested in getting involved in any team from Saturday Mornings to Minors to get in touch. “Many hands make light work”.

Coaching courses will be provided as were in other years and can also be updated. If you feel you have time to give please contact Juvenile Chairman Dinny O’Connor on 0879574410 or Senior Chairman Frank O’Connor on 0877971862. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Kerins O’Rahillys U14 girls who won the Division 3 North Kerry Final on Sunday last

The U14 girls are back training Tuesdays and Thursdays 6.30-7.30. Contact Robert on 0868882875 for further details. Our U14’s girls have had a busy two weeks between North Kerry league and Town League.

We rounded off the North Kerry league with two comfortable victories over Castlegregory and Dingle which put us into the final against Moyvane. Last Thursday evening we played John Mitchels in the town league.

This was an excellent game of football from two fully committed teams with some brilliant scores from both sides. Even though we were 5pts up at half time we were giving up easy chances to the Mitchels. Into the second half and Mitchels had drawn level.

With about 10mins left we were 2pts down and looked in trouble but to the girls credit they never gave up and got there reward when we struck for a goal to end up winning by 1pt.

Final Score Kerins O’Rahillys 6-06 John Mitchels 5-08. Last Sunday we travelled to Ballyduff to play Moyvane in the North Kerry league final.

This was our third time this year playing them and both games were very tight so we knew this would be no different. This was a low scoring but fully committed game.

We were level at half time 1-02 to 5pts with both defences on top. The second half was much the same as the first half but Moyvane pulled a point ahead with about 8mins left and once again we looked in trouble as Moyvane were on top but once again the girls struck for a late goal to win out by 2pts in the end.

The girls at the moment seem to have a knack of getting late goals to pull results out. This game was a lot more physical than previous games and to the girls credit they stood up to it.

The delight on the girls faces after the final whistle is fully deserving of the efforts they have put in this year. Final Score Kerins O’Rahillys 2-04 Moyvane 1-05.

We have one more game left against Austin Stacks in the town league final with time and venue TBC. A big thanks to everyone for their support over the last two weeks.
