Senior Championship Relegation Play Off Kerins O’Rahillys 1-12 Laune Rangers 0-09

Though always in control of this game we had some anxious moments before the final whistle was sounded to guarantee Senior status for 2016.

A competition that is seriously flawed and to the detriment of all clubs, leaves a bad taste to all concerned and hopefully this situation can be reversed next year.

We had the first score of the game a well taken point from Barry John Keane. Jack Savage followed with a pointed free to leave the scores at Kerins O’Rahillys 0-02 to Laune Rangers 0-02 at the 6th minute.

Exchanges were robust enough at this stage as could be understood with so much at stake. Though we had Tommy Walsh at full forward Laune Rangers had two men on him and an extra mid field back in defence.

We added further points from Jack Savage, Barry John, and a great run through the middle by centre back Ross O’Callaghan who put over the bar to leave the scores at Kerins O’Rahillys 0-05 to Laune Rangers 0-02 at the 14th minute.

With Con Barrett gaining a lot of possession in midfield and ably assisted by Gavin Duffy, Cian Sayers and David Moran, we had further points from David Mc Loughlin who covered acres of ground throughout the game and worked tirelessly and a final point from Jack Savage to leave the half time score at Kerins O’Rahillys 0-07 to Laune Rangers 0-04.

We had the first point in the second half from an acute angle from Jack Savage who had an outstanding game throughout, and straight after a ball won by Kieran O’Mahony who drew players and flighted the ball across the goal for Jack Savage to slot in to the corner of the net leaving us ahead by 1-08 to Laune Rangers 0-04.

This was the score that decided the game. Though Rangers hit back with a series of points and dominated play for the next 10 minutes. We weathered the storm with Shane Brosnan, Danny O’Sullivan, David Murphy, and Cian Sayers outstanding in the backs aided by David Moran and Giles O’Grady showing all his experience.

Points by Jack Savage 2 more from Barry John Keane and the final point from Declan Quill left us deserved winners at the final whistle. Gary Kissane brought off a brilliant save in the 40th minute when a goal seemed inevitable.

Our next Co League game versus Dingle has been provisionally fixed for Sunday the 15th of November at 2pm in Strand Road.

Coaching and Development

With ever increasing playing numbers at all ages in the Club we are always anxious to ensure that every player is given the best possible coaching in the skills of the game. We are extremely grateful for the hard work and commitment of our members who volunteer to coach and assist in any way with each team.

As in previous years we are looking for new people to get involved. We have had a very productive 2015 and look forward to the same in 2016. This would not be possible without our volunteers.

Bearing this in mind and planning for the season ahead we would like to invite anyone who would be interested in getting involved in any team from Saturday Mornings to Minors to get in touch. “Many hands make light work”.

Coaching courses will be provided as were in other years and can also be updated. If you feel you have time to give please contact Juvenile Chairman Dinny O’Connor on 0879574410 or Senior Chairman Frank O’Connor on 0877971862. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
