Credit Union Senior Co League Rnd 6

Kerins O’Rahillys 0-09

Dr Crokes 0-13

Though missing a host of players we were well in this game all through but Dr Crokes ability to pick off scores at vital stages of the game was the difference between the sides at the final whistle.

We were able to give our young players a run and they all acquitted themselves with Gearoid Savage, Thomas Hoare and John Keane doing some great work throughout the hour.

We lost Tommy Walsh shortly after half time to injury and he was a big loss in the second half and we wish Tommy a speedy recovery. We opened the scoring with a well taken point from a free by Tommy after he was fouled going through to goals. Points by David McLoughlin, Gearoid Savage, and Kieran O’Mahony had the sides level at 4 points each at the 22nd minute.

Dr Crokes were reduced to 14 men in the 23rd min with a straight red card to one of their players. We had another well taken point from Kieran O’Mahoey before half time to leave the half time score at Kerins O’Rahillys 0-05 to Dr Crokes 0-06.

We used the extra man in the backs for the second half and with the introduction of Jack Savage who put over the bar from play had the sides level at 6 points each at the 32nd minute. A further point from Jack had us ahead by 0-07 to Dr Crokes 0-06 at the 36th minute.

We were lucky after this when Ambrose O’Donovan’s shot for goal went wide. Both sides traded points with Jack Savage putting over 3 points from frees and play to leave the scores at Kerins O’Rahillys 0-09 to Dr Crokes 0-10 at the 51st minute.

Great play by David Murphy, Danny O’Sullivan, Shane Brosnan, Jason O’Leary and especially Giles O’Grady who had a mighty game throughout.

We had plenty ball in the last quarter but lost possession and Dr Crokes ability to hit on the rebound putting over 4 points was enough to give them a deserved win.

Other players to impress were Gary Kissane in goals John C O’Connor mid field and up front Greg O’Connell, David Mc Loughlin, Tom Hoare and Kieran O’Mahony.
