Minor Football
Co League Division 1 Kerins O’Rahillys 2-05 Ballydonoghue 3-06

This very physical Division 1 clash between Kerins O’Rahillys and Ballydonoghue was played in perfect Spring conditions in Strand Rd. Kerins O’Rahillys were first on the scoreboard with a free taken by Gearóid Savage. This was quickly followed by a well pointed 45 from a placed ball by Karl Mullins. Ballydonoghue got their first from play after 7 minutes and held a grip on the game for the next 20 minutes scoring a further 1-02 before Kerins O’Rahillys Kevin Johnson Horgan scored a fine goal to bring the home side within a point of the visitors. Kerins O’Rahillys suffered a major blow just before half time when they were reduced to 14 men and the hurt was further heightened when Ballydonoghue scored a point and rattled the goal to bring the halftime score to 2-04 to 1-02. Gearóid Savage once again got the second half scoring off with 2 frees and 11 minutes into the half saw Karl Mullins burst through to score the equalising goal. It was all to play for. Ballydonoghue were held scoreless for 19 minutes in the second half and a long stoppage due to one of their players being injured stopped the flow of the game. Ballydonoghue extended their lead when they monopolised on a mistake made in the Kerins O’Rahillys defence and Gearóid savage got our final score in the 31st minute from a free to put a goal between the sides. Ballydonoghue closed down the game with an injury time point to make the final score Kerins O’Rahillys 2-05 Ballydonoghue 3-06. We would like to wish the injured Ballydonoghue players a speedy recovery and thank both Dr David Buckley and Reggie Griffin from Kerins O’Rahillys who came to their assistance on the day.
