Seniors: Once again, the weather was the winner this weekend when our rearranged fixture with Ballymac was postponed again due to Healy Park being unplayable. We now await a meeting of the Town board CCC to pick another date.

County League: Our opening game in this year’s county league will see us travel to Dingle to take on the locals; all games are fixed for Sunday 19th March but given the other sporting attractions that week end ( Kerry vs Dublin, Ireland vs England in the Aviva) both clubs have agreed to play the game on Sat 18th March with a 2pm start; more on this nearer the time but one for your diary as we will be hoping to make a good start to the league albeit Pairc na hAghasaigh is never an easy place to go.

Minors: As Strand Rd was unplayable at the weekend, we had to concede home venue in our opening Division 2 fixture to the Kilgarvan/Tousist/Templenoe combination and the long journey south to Templenoe proved too onerous where we were well beaten on a scoreline of 4-11 to 0-5. We take on Cordal/Scartaglin on next Sat 11th March in round 2 – further details later in the week on Facebook.

Kerry: Kerry regained winning ways in the Allianz Football league when defeating Roscommon 1-19 to 1-13 in Dr Hyde Park on Sunday last; our trio of David Moran, Jack Savage and Barry John Keane all acquitted themselves well, each on the score sheet with Jack & Barry John each notching 2 points and David one.

This was an important 2 points for the Kingdom as they still maintain hopes of figuring at the business end of the league. The acid test will come here in Tralee on Sat night 18th March when the Dubs come to town with their 33 match unbeaten record on the line. This matches the same feat achieved by Kerry in the 1930s and I am sure the Dubs would rather be heading anywhere but Tralee in setting new records. Tickets are sold out for this fixture but a further 1000 may be made available following on from a health and safety review of the venue.

Kerry U-21: Best of luck to Alan O’Sullivan (trainer) and Cormac Coffey who will be part of Kerry’s U-21 squad which embarks on their quest for Munster and hopefully All Ireland honours this week with an opening game vs Clare in Austin Stack Park this Wednesday night, 8th March where throw in is at 7.30 pm.

Junior Blues: Our Junior Blues Academy returns to outdoor training in Healy Park, Ballyrickard this Sunday,March 12th, 11am.-12.15pm catering for girls and boys aged 4-10 years.

We look forward to seeing everyone there and as always New Members are more than welcome. This year we will also be running an optional fitness session for parents from 11a.m.-11.40a.m. Fitness instructor John Fitzgerald will take Moms and Dads for a ‘light’ workout (small fee applies). Why not try it !! Enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and a light bite to eat afterwards while you watch your child train.

Strictly Come Dancing: Excitement continues to build in the lead in to the 25th with the dancers pulling out all the stops in preparation for the big night; choreographer Jackie has been upping the ante and getting the desired response. If you are still without a ticket, please ensure you get one this week as stocks are running low and the house full signs will shortly be on show.

Lotto: The club lotto of €6,400 ( Monday 27th Feb) was not won where the winning numbers drawn were : 2, 18, 29 & 31. There were no match 3 winners either. Five entrants for Dec 2017 draw ( 4 X €250) were: Ger Griffin, Carol & Frank Stone, D & Max Molloy, D & R Molloy & Noel O’Sullivan.

Next week’s jackpot will now be €6,500. The lotto takes place on Monday nights in Charlies Bar with a special in house raffle on the night also for those attending. Please note that it is the responsibility of each individual playing our club lotto via direct debit to ensure that direct debit is paid monthly to the club. In the event that we do not receive two consecutive monthly direct debits an individual’s lotto numbers will no longer be valid for entry to our weekly lotto draw. If an individual cancels their direct debit their lotto entry is deemed cancelled.

Charlies Bar: A range of activities take place weekly in the bar with all tastes catered for – from pilates on Mondays & Tuesdays to Irish dancing on Wednesdays, to card playing ( Whist Drive) on Thursdays; there is live music on week ends with food each evening. Friday night specials include a steak/chips with a pint or glass of wine all for €19.95- why not make Charlies your next port of call for your night out? You can contact Tom or Eileen on 7124956.

Sympathy: Sincere sympathy is offered to wife Anne and family of Padhraic Moran who died tragically last week. Both Micheál & Peter are long and loyal supporters of our club with Peter being part of the U-12 management team this year. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.
