Kerins O’Rahillys GAA Club News

Seniors: A free week end on the club front but back in action next week when we travel to Glenbeigh to take on the locals in round 3 of the county league; this game is pencilled in for Sat evening  next 8th April @ 6 pm as a result of Kerry’s unexpected advancement to the league final.

After round 3 we await the opening round of the club championship when we will face Kenmare in Strand Rd; this fixture is dependent on the progress of the Kerry U-21s and will be played on Monday 1st May if Kerry are in an All Ireland final the previous Saturday ( April 29th); however, should Galway eliminate Kerry on Easter Sat ( April 15th) this game will go ahead on Sunday April 23rd – a lot of suppositions then, fixtures once confirmed will be available on Facebook during the week.

Minors: The minors have some time off due to Kerry’s first outing in the Munster championship which will be a home fixture on Weds night 12th April here in Austin Stack Park when we welcome Clare; Kerry are the defending Munster and All Ireland champions and given the current strength of under age football in the county, we are expected to advance to semi final which is tabled for Weds night 10th May.

We are due to play Austin Stacks in the Tralee town league final which is provisionally fixed for Tuesday night 11th April at a venue to be decided upon – again confirmation of fixture will appear on Facebook once known.

Congrats to minor bainisteoir Declan Quill and his wife Erika on their new arrival, Mattie James who arrived safely on Tuesday morning last 28th March – a new playmate for Adam.

Kerry: The seniors had a surprisingly easy victory over Tyrone in the final round of the league in a sun baked Fitzgerald Stadium last Sunday and coupled with other results sees Kerry advance to an Allianz League final next Sunday ( April 9th) against old foes Dublin in Croke Park where throw in is @ 16.00.

David Moran continued his excellent form against the “Red Hands” and controlled matters in the middle for much of the game; Barry John worked hard contributing 2 points and being unlucky with some more efforts; Jack Savage was on the bench and not used.

U-21s: A power packed display in Pairc Uí Rinn last Weds night saw Kerry victorious in the Munster final when accounting for Cork on a scoreline of 2-16 to 0-06; remarkably this was Kerry’s first win in 20 years on Cork soil and all the sweeter with the manner of the performance and the winning margin.

Congratulations to Cormac Coffey who was introduced in the 2nd half and trainer Alan O’Sullivan who had the team in tip top shape for the game; Kerry now play Galway on Easter Sat ( April 15th) in the All Ireland semi final and we wish Cormac, Alan, all the team and management the best of luck in their quest for All Ireland glory.
