Seniors: A below par performance  saw us lose our first round relegation play off game vs Stacks on a score line of 1-15 to 0-09 in Austin Stack Park on Sunday night.

The return to action of David Moran, John Ferguson and Ross O’Callaghan was a pre match boost but their recent lack of match practice did not help and a general malaise manifested itself in all aspects of our play.

Playing with the strong wind at our backs in the first half, we found ourselves 0-04 to 0-02 behind when Shane O’Callaghan intercepted a short kick out and duly found the net.

Things did not improve thereafter and struggling on our own kicks out we trailed by 1-07 to 0-03 approaching half time when a good catch and turn by Tommy Walsh found Barry John Keane who was hauled to the ground for a penalty – though Barry John struck his shot well to his left, the keeper effected a good save for a “45” which was put over by David Moran – we added another white flag before half time to leave us trailing on a score line of 1-07 to 0-05 at the interval.

The signs were ominous at this stage facing into the breeze and when target man Tommy Walsh was forced off early in the second half through injury  the writing was on the wall.

We strove manfully to stem the tide but were too often second to the ball resulting in a disappointing loss. We now turn our attention to the county championship which will be played in Strand Rd in a fortnights time ( Sunday 14th )  when South Kerry are the visitors in a repeat of last years round 1 game.

Junior Blues: Training continued at Healy Park on Sunday morning where a huge turn out was in evidence across all age groups. The U-10s had Ballymacelligott and Lispole as our visitors and a great morning’s fun was had by all.
Go Games blitz will take place this Weds night in Ballyrickard ( U8 boys) commencing at 6.30 pm
U-14 Boys continue their county league programme also on Weds night when we travel to play Ballyheigue.
