County Championship Round 3 Result

Spa  4-13

Kerins O RAHILLYS 0-16

We traveled to Spa Killarney for our final game in this years Senior County Championship on Saturday evening.

In a game that was irrelevant to both sides , having both lost in rounds one and two. Lining out with out a number of regulars gave us an opportunity to give game time to a number of panelist’s who have put in a huge effort all year.

While we competed well for long periods of the contest , the home team pulled away late on when they got through for a couple of goals.

The fixture brings our involvement in the competition to a disappointing end having lost convincingly in all three rounds.

The management and players particularly will now need to lift themselves for the upcoming Club Championship Final against Templenoe, which will no doubt be a very difficult task, but one that would salvage some satisfaction for the years effort.

KERINS O’RAHILLYS: Shane Foley; Darragh McElligott, TJ Heaphy, Padraig Neenan; Ben Hanifan (0-2) , Karl Mullan, Cian Sayers (0-2), Sean Walsh (0-1), Tom Hoare 0-3 (2f), Daniel Bowler, Barry John Keane 0-3 (2f, 1m), Padraig Griffin; Darragh O’Connor 0-3 (1f), Diarmuid O’Sullivan (0-1f), Conor Hayes (0-1). Subs: Keelan Crowe for P Griffin (ht), Gearoid Dillane for D O’Sullivan (45 mins), Stephen Nix for TJ Heaphy (50 mins).

Great news..
The Gaelic Games Associations are pleased to announce that former President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, has agreed to be independent Chairperson of the integration process between Camogie, GAA and the LGFA .
It’s great to hear that moves are afoot to integrate all three organisations at national level. This news is very welcome to the ladies of Strand Road.

KERINS O’ RAHILLY TEAM
KOR 1-07
Austin Stacks 3-10
Last Tuesday we met Austin Stacks in round 3 of the Town League. It was our rivals who struck the psychological first blow on the night.

We will be going for glory during the week as we’ll  be in Connolly Park next Tuesday evening as ourselves and Austin Stacks again  do battle for a place in the final. The scene has been set, will be do it.

U12 Strand Road Blues team

STRAND ROAD BLUES
Strand Road Blues 3-05
Churchill 5-05

Pressure is for tyres and our young blues were determined from the start to prove that last Wednesday in Pat Healy Park scoring the opening point. Churchill then got a quick grip on the game and both teams started feeding a hungry attack to leave the score at half time Strand Road Blues 3-03 to Churchill’s 4-02.

The visitors continued to add to their tally with a point straight into the second half followed  by a point from the home side….

Our team manager Mary was delighted with her girls on their performance of the year. Great team work and we’re  proud of each and every one of them.

Next Wednesday both teams meet again, this time in the Spa pitch for the semifinal. Best wishes to everyone!

Plenty of laughter from the pitch during the game and messing galore! Great to see so many happy faces coming off at home time.
We’re delighted to welcome Reagan to our team. Looking forward to seeing you!

SENIOR LADIES
Glenflesk 3-06
Kerins O’ Rahilly 2-03

Well done to our ladies who played Glenflesk in the Championship semifinal last Sunday morning in Glenflesk. We only had 13 players because of college and work but our ladies gave it their all against the Glenflesk team.

We struggled to score much in the opening half. Unfortunately this allowed the home team to pull ahead and we were unable to catch up.

From number 1 right through to number 13  the girls played as a team giving great account of themselves . We didn’t come through the battle to claim the honours but we will be back in time..

Many thanks to everyone who travelled to support .

COLLEGE WISHES
College bound are many of our ladies, off in different directions around the country are these besties! Best wishes to all of you from everyone in our club!

Juvenile Notes: Great to see such high numbers in attendance on Sunday morning for Academy and also by our U7s and U9s who kept a tradition that is going for the last 45 years when they traveled to play Dr. Crokes on Sunday.

We are delighted with the dedication showing by each child throughout the last number of months. Thanks to their parents for their continued support and encouragement each week. And to our dedicated coaches who give up their time to train and encourage the children.

U5 Boys:
Another fantastic turnout by our U5 Boys this weekend.

They might be our youngest players but they have showing great ability over the last number of months. This week the focus was on kicking with accuracy through fun games. They enjoyed a few fun games at the end as they do every week. Well done to all the boys keep up the good work.

U6 Girls:
The girls enjoyed their training session which was filled with fun and key skill learning as always. They practiced their kicking and hand passing skills
and finished the training session with some fun games for all to enjoy. Well done to all the girls and their wonderful coaches.

U7 and U9 Boys:
The GAA is an organisation that thrives on traditions. On Saturday 24th of September our U7 and U9 boys kept a 45 year tradition alive as they travelled to play Dr. Crokes in Killarney.

Young footballers from Kerins O Rahillys have been making this trip since the late 70s and a great rapport has been built between the two clubs over the years. Our U7 and U9 teams played three games each and had a wonderful experience.

The bus trip and the treats after went down very well with all the players. Well done to all our young narries and their coaches for giving their time to provide a great day out for the boys.

U8 and U10 Girls:
Enjoyed another morning of training with their wonderful coaches. The girls are preparing for their  next game in a few weeks time by concentrating on the accuracy of their kicks and looking for their fellow players to pass it off to. Well done to each and every one of them on a fantastic training session.

U11 Boys:
Our U11 boys will play Firies this Thursday evening in Ballyrickard for a challange game.  Please check clubZap for more details.
