Juvenile Academy:
We hope everyone had a great first week back at school. Juvenile academy continued Sunday morning as usual for all age groups except Our U7 and U9 boys who were on a trip to Spa in Killarney.
Our U7 and U9 boys hit the road to Spa Killarney for an exciting morning of football. It was fantastic to watch some very competitive games, with great sportsmanship shown by all! A big thank you to Spa for hosting us.There was a great sense of community spirit in the Klub afterwards, and John put on a fantastic spread that had all the boys smiling. We also want to give a shout-out to all the parents who helped with the food and clean-up — your support makes all the difference.
U11 Boys:
Our u11s had two fantastic games V Churchill Thursday night in sun drenched Ballyrickard. The boys battled hard in a well contested first half. In the second half the passing and support play was much better and the scores followed. Well done boys on a great display.
Training continued on Saturday morning in Ballyrickard.
U13 Boys:
Our U13 boys had two great wins today in the Central Region Semifinals v An Ghaeltacht; our A team won 5-10 to 1-08 led by Captain and man of the match Evan Griffin. Our B team also won on a score line of 4-15 to 5-08 with Harry O Mahony a real driving force in midfield . Onwards now to the Central Region Div 2 final and the Central Region B final as well. Dates to be confirmed.
Ladies Notes:
U12 Girls:
KOR U12 girls took on Kilcummin in Ballyrickard on Tuesday evening. Every girl ,1 to 11, put in a great performance. Ava put on a football exhibition in front of the goals as she netted on numerous occasions. Harriet was a massive threat going forward and was very strong carrying the ball. As always, our defence was phenomenal with no one giving Kilcummin an inch. These girls are a credit to themselves. What a great game of football to be involved in. Thanks to Kilcummin who made the journey into Ballyrickard and to Garry Kissane for reffing.
U14 Girls:
Unfortunately our U14 Strand Road team lost against an impressive St Pat’s side at Ballyrickard Wednesday night in the North Kerry League. We were playing catch up from the get go, with the St Pat’s girls scoring 2-2 before we registered our first point.
We trailed by 8 points at the break, but to the girls’ credit, they came out fighting in the second half and at one stage, were within two points of the visitors. Lily Hussey showed her usual determination to bring her team right back into the game, and Meabh Kennedy had her best game yet at full forward.
Emily Corridon had another solid performance at cornerback; Rachael Ahern ran herself ragged while our substitutes from the under 12 panel all made their presence felt and made a huge difference when introduced.
In the end however, St Pat’s were deserving winners. We play Stacks tonight in Connolly Park.
Our U14 Kerins O’Rahillys team played Churchill on Sunday evening unfortunately they lost to a very strong Churchill team. Everyone put in a great performance throughout the game but just came up short at the end. Well done to Churchill who were well deserving winners.
