Strand RoadJuveniles

U6, U8, U10s Outdoor training for all of these age groups both boys and girls started back on Saturday last the 7th of March.

There were good numbers at training and all were treated to expert coaching not only from all of our fully qualified coaches but from our three senior Kerry players and our two U21 Kerry players too.

We are extremely lucky to have this wealth of knowledge to draw from and our young players soaked it up on Saturday morning. Thanks to Barry John Keane, David Moran, Tommy Walsh, Cormac Coffey and Jack Savage for giving so freely of their time.

They will no doubt be dropping in to check on all of our young players in the season ahead.  All of our Saturday coaches are fully qualified and the Saturday coaching sessions promise fun with all of the skills thrown in.

Club Officer training will be provided for Secretaries and PRO’s by the Co Board in Kerins O’Rahillys at 8.30pm on this Tuesday the 10th of March.

Senior Football

Tralee District Senior League: Kerins O’Rahillys 2-10 Ballymacelligott 1-04

We took on Ballymacelligott in the third round of the Tralee Town League on Sunday last in Healy Park Ballyrickard throwing in at 2pm.  Ballymacelligott, with the aid of a stiff breeze, were first into the attack and we found ourselves a goal and a point down after just 5 minutes.

A pointed free from Declan Quill was our first score but Ballymacelligott soon restored their lead with another white flag after 15 minutes.

We gradually worked our way into the game due to some fine work in the middle of the park by Con Barrett with strong running from David McLoughlin and also Greg O’Connell which left the half time score at 1-3 to 0-5 in favour of the visitors.

On the resumption our first attack yielded a fine goal from John Ferguson who picked his spot and shot low into the corner.  From there we controlled the game with fine displays from Con Barrett, Martin Tierney, David McLoughlin and Declan Quill.  From there to the final whistle we added another 1-7 with Declan accounting for 1-2, further minor from John Ferguson and an outstanding score from the left wing by Tommy Begley who had come up from wing back in support of the attack.

This was a most satisfactory win with all players contributing but a special mention must be made of Con Barrett for his high fielding and all round work rate throughout the pitch. We will now play Austin Stacks in the final of this competition on Easter weekend.  Our next game will come on 22nd March when we travel to play Finuge in Round 1 of the County League Division 1.
