Strand RoadJuveniles

U6/8/10

All activity for this age group is now taking a short break.

The Kerins O’Rahillys annual Summer camp took place last week. The camp was run free of charge and open to everyone from the age of 6 to 13 in the local community. It was a huge success with children from all over Tralee and beyond attending.

It was lovely to see children from opposition clubs who would normally play against each other play together and to see children who wouldn’t normally have access to a camp be able to do so. Everyone really enjoyed the week whether they knew how to play football or not.

With the fully qualified coaches even the beginners had a grasp of the game by Friday. The week culminated in the All-Ireland finals competition on Friday with London ably coached by Rachel O’Connor wining the Division 1 final and Dublin winning the Division 2 final coached by Linda Gleeson and Paul Byrne. The day was rounded off with a visit from the ice-cream van so everyone went home tired but happy for another year.

We would like to thank our camp sponsor Roy Bowler of Shore Acre Caravan Park Camp. We would also like to thank all of our coaches and all of those who helped in any way throughout the week. Normal service resumes on Saturday the 6th of September at 11am.

U12s were due to travel to Castlegregory to play in the Central league at time of print. Report next week. Their next game in this league is on Monday the 25th away to Annascaul at 7pm.

U13s The U13 team took part in the Rose Cup on Saturday last. While they didn’t qualify they played extremely well in their group games and showed great team spirit. Well done to all involved.

Toronto Rose Katie Blundell took some time out from her hectic schedule on Saturday last to visit Charlie’s Bar.

She along with her escort John McLoughlin and festival representative Maureen Curtin spent some time chatting to staff and customers. Katie even gave Tom a run for his money when she pulled a perfect pint complete with shamrock on top!

Katie enjoyed some of the delicious food on offer in Charlie’s before being whisked back to the busy preparation for the evening’s parade.
