Seniors:
Following our win last weekend over Dr Crokes, the draw for the quarter finals will see us vie with local divisional side St Brendans ( impressive 3-18 to 1-18 winners over Mid Kerry on Sunday last)  for a place in this year’s semi finals.

This promises to be an enthralling game given that both sets of players would be very familiar with each others play. St Brendans can call on many players who  have worn the county jersey at various levels with the likes of Jack  & Andrew Barry, Sean Moloney, Stefan Okunbor, Diarmuid O’Connor, Brandon Barrett  all available to them.

The game will be played on weekend of 29/30th Sept at a venue to be decided at an upcoming meeting of the CCC.

Our U10 boys took part in a blitz in John Mitchels on Sat last and had a great day out; they played 5 games in total competing against Beale, Ardfert, Ballymac, Churchill and Na Gaeil and though they did not make the final they played plenty of football and enjoyed themselves immensely – special thanks to coaches Richie and Johnno for their time and effort. Training continues on Sunday mornings in Healy Park commencing at 11.00 am

U12s:

Both A & B teams travelled to Keel last Monday night for their games; the A team, though not in contention for the final places were competitive throughout and after a great game, were defeated in the end.

The B team were still in running for a final place and played well throughout but the concession of two late goals meant victory went to Keel – well done to all involved and to Keel on their success.

U12 GIRLS
Training continues on Tuesday at 6.30p.m. in Ballyrickard. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Development training texts will be sent during the week.
U14 GIRLS
Our Strand Road girls are away to Castlegregory on Monday September 17th. Throw in at 6.40p.m. in Castlegregory. This is round 2 of The North Kerry League. Best of luck to everyone.
Last week we travelled to Duagh on a dirty, rainy Monday evening. It was our first game in division 3 of The North Kerry League. Each and every girl played fantastic football in really bad conditions.Final score Duagh 1-3, Strand Road Girls 2-8.
Our U14 Blues team played Corca Dhuibhne Cubs in a very entertaining final in Healy Park last Wednesday evening.
In the early stages of this game we gave ourselves a lot to do by letting in a few early goals and points. Our direct style of football paid off though with hard work by all the team resulting in us  getting 2 great goals followed by points from another two players to bring us back within 3 points after 20 minutes. Corca Dhuibhne had some very strong players down the middle but Lauren Doody who had probably her best game this year was very strong at centre half back ably assisted by Jennifer Murphy in midfield. It was a very high scoring game from beginning to end .
At half time we were 4 points down but could have been worse if it wasn’t for the work of our forwards. It was a game we were never ahead in despite having far more ball in the second half. Corca Dhuibhne had just 3 wides in the whole game which is outstanding for a team at that level . With just 5 minutes to go there were just 2 points in it but we just couldn’t peg it back. Every single player played her heart out but Lauren Doody was head and shoulders above every player on the field  that night. The other side were just that bit better than us throughout and simply made better use of the ball when they had it and deservedly held on at the finish.
We are a club building and our juvenile teams are getting better and better . They always say you learn more when you lose a game and we will be all the better for the games to come this year. Well done to all the team, their mentors and the supporters on the night. Final score Kerins O’Rahilly’s Blues 6-07 , Corca Dhuibhne 9-03.

Charlie’s Bar Golf Society:
A great day in Ceann Sibeál last Saturday for Declan Quill’s captains prize; from leaving the club house at 11.30 to arrival home on Sat night the craic was electric and everybody who played had a hugely enjoyable day. The weather,  though turning nasty late on with wind and driving rain did little to dampen the enthusiasm as many of the participants had often experienced these conditions on the football pitch!

Micheál Quirke, believed to have spent two days practising for this event (!) was the big winner taking home Declan’s prize with a score of 40 points. Other winners on the day were brothers Tom & Martin Nix  who were joined by Wayne Guthrie in winning the team prize with Anna Keane taking the longest drive accolade and Mike O’Halloran nearest the pin – as stated, a great day out back west and well done to all who played and the bus driver who also added to the fun of the day.

Charlie’s Bar continues to provide top class food and drink in comfortable surroundings with meeting rooms available for all occasions – give Mike a call on 7124956 with your requirements.
